I'm tempted to pick up Fallout 3 on Steam and give the game a second try... Should I?

@scribble Do eet. But i'd reccomend it on consoles moreso, OR fall out new vegas...consoles just so you can play it with nicer visuals mind~

@cavatina Why New Vegas?
Monday, 16-Jul-12 08:58:03 UTC from web-
@scribble Because IMO it's better x3

@cavatina Wait.... if I cant play skyrim on my laptop, how much better would NV fare? Is it good on PC? Or should I play the 360 version?
Monday, 16-Jul-12 08:59:10 UTC from web-
@purplephish20 Fallout 3 and NV use an older version of the engine...so maybe...but probably best on console.

@purplephish20 It runs pretty great on my laptop, whereas Skyrim struggles, so... it might work? I think the console versions have a few less bugs patched out, but then _most_ of the game-breaking bugs were never present on consoles anyway, due to the lack of hardware variation making testing easier.

@bitshift hmmm.... Laptop specs? Is it better or worse than mine? http://ur1.ca/9sbez
Monday, 16-Jul-12 09:05:46 UTC from web-
@purplephish20 Slightly lower in all but processor and graphics, but unfortunately those are what really count with games. Not too sure how that chipset fares, but its name doesn't fill me with confidence.

@bitshift Could you say whether NV would run on my laptop? I have Win7 64bit, 3gb ram, 2.3ghz dual core processor and Radeon Mobility HD 4250.
Monday, 16-Jul-12 09:18:26 UTC from web-
@ecmc All sounds good to me, except possibly the graphics card; I have no idea how much oomph an HD4250 does/doesn't have.

@bitshift Hmm. Well for reference, Portal 2 runs pretty well (which I was surprised to find out last night), but Bioshock, not so much (at least the demo anyway); at the lowest graphics settings it was only just about playable.
Monday, 16-Jul-12 09:27:13 UTC from web-
@ecmc the source engine will run pretty good on a pentium 2.

@ecmc If Portal 2 runs fine, you should be good to go; I have to drop the settings somewhat on that, but not on NV (well, not below what it guesses, anyway, and that's perfectly playable).

@bitshift Good to hear. It seems I shall finally be getting a Fallout game then :D
Monday, 16-Jul-12 09:33:20 UTC from web -
@bitshift You use semicolons conversationally? We should make out.
Monday, 16-Jul-12 09:37:21 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin I love semicolons; they're so versatile.
Monday, 16-Jul-12 09:40:27 UTC from web-
@bitshift Oh baby. You don't know what you're doing to me.

@ecmc it runs on my dual core 2.2, 4gb ram, nvidia 2500 laptop (a dell precision m90)

@ecmc so yes I believe it will run.

@scribble I need NV but I have no money
Monday, 16-Jul-12 08:56:48 UTC from web -
@scribble no
Monday, 16-Jul-12 08:57:43 UTC from web -
@scribble But yeah, i reccomend it, it's truly a brilliant game in every respect, you just gotta let yourself be immersed. Dont be ashamed to use a guide if lost. <3
Monday, 16-Jul-12 08:57:44 UTC from web -
@scribble Not NV? NV is ~£7.50 right now for the version with all the DLC, and ~£3.25 for the base game. And they're both very good in their own ways, though NV is somewhat more technically polished, having come later.
