@abigpony Her name is Whirly Willow. I believe she has a tumblr. That's a pinwheel on her flank I believe. I like the calmer colors too, but I feel too many use tan, grey, and brown. The show's ponies are usually more flamboyant. http://ur1.ca/9t9lk

@pony I personally hate the hell out of freckles on most ponies (Aj pulls em off because lolsouthernstereotypes) and that poofy Twist hair. I have no opinion on that one, though.

@abigpony yeah. it can be tricky to pull off freckles. She looks to be a younger filly so I think the freckles make sense to me. Even some that wouldn't fit into the show still look awesome to me. I have a soft spot for goth toon characters. http://ur1.ca/9t9m3

@abigpony lol! Yeah, I usually don't mind accessories when they don't draw too much attention away from the actual pony, but I really don't like clothes on OCs usually. They rarely follow what's been seen in the show. The big exception for me is socks, but even those can look bad sometimes. http://ur1.ca/9t9mr

@pony White contrasts too much with the bright blue coat and those little braids on the side make it look like they're trying to be unique and end up looking dumb. maybe if it was a lighter blue or something. Socks are annoying as hell to me personally. The fact that no one can seem to make a decent dress or accessories in general for their characters is freakin crazy. It's not that hard to notice and adopt the show's style. and take note.

@abigpony blue coat? she's basically Twi-purple though. Again, I like Whirly Willow's accessories. She's unique because of her height (despite being adult) so that's how she stands out, but overall she'd fit very well into the show. http://ur1.ca/9t9o9

@pony I'm colorblind. The point is that there was too much contrast. Whoop, now I dislike her. Good color/hair and whatnot, but they're trying to be too 'unique' by making her short. "lol, she's so special because she's shorter" give me a break. Also, that 'accessory' is taken straight from the show. It contrasts like crazy, though. dumb down the red possibly to a pink and it might look better. Also, those 2 stallions are cancerous.

@abigpony xD lol again with the hard-to-please Most background ponies are actually terribly generic compared to the mane 6. I think that for an OC to be more unique than a bg pony is perfectly acceptable. Even some side characters like Snips and Snails *blegh* are fairly unique. @pony Snips and snails are part of a duo and are supposed to be contrasting characters. one's the fat, short mastermind (still not smart, but that's comedy for ya) and the other skinny, tall, and dimwitted. The thing is that BG ponies don't usually look bad because they are designers and know what goes with what and looks good on them. It's their job.

@pony XD I personally don't mind the designs of mos t OCs. It's the colours and how they contrast most of the time that drives me up a wall. DON'T MAKE AN OC WITH RED AND YELLOW. Or black and blue. Ughhh.

@greydragon412 most fan OCs look like utter crap while "animator OCs" look pretty good because they know design, they know what colors, what designs go with what. Even in there, not all of them are god.

@minti The colors work really well together and I like the bow farther down the hair and stuff. it seems like an alteration of an existing style as opposed to when people try to be edgy and make weird new ones. It rustles my jimmies when the hair is not the same as in most of the art of your OC.

@abigpony Yeah. I'm a perfectionist so I REALLY try to make her the same all the time. I have her design 100% down, I just can't draw for crap so I do what Grey does and vector other ponies, then edit the hair and mane. xD

@pony If you still have the SVG for that, I'd say try a ligher coloured blush. I've seen some shows use that, and it looked good. xD

@greydragon412 it's a hybrid. I see it personally purely as just a dragon and it's not bad, but then I remember it's a pony/dragon and I see it and it disgusts me. As long as I think of it as a non-pony, it's cool.
