Today, visiting my senile nan in her home, she was insistent that they weren't going to serve her her food. Why, nan? "Wait and see." "See what?" Then she repeated "wait and see" over and over again, getting quieter and quieter until we were all whispering. What are we waiting for, nan? Then, dead seriously, "An explosion."

@techdisk42 On another occasion, she questioned my cousin as to who was blackmailing her. Apparently, my (late) grandfather recently received a letter blackmailing her by saying she'd done a striptease.

@thelastgherkin Sounds about right. Already lived in the same house as a sufferer of dementia for 3 or 4 years, and it's agonizing to see them lose nearly everything that defined who they were. I hope (if she's not already in that state) your nan never ends up that way. :(

@thelastgherkin *hugs* It's in the past now, even if the memories are still unpleasant - he's since died, and while my lack of certainty in the existence of an afterlife doesn't permit me to say for sure "he's gone to a better place", I think it was still probably a positive that his suffering ended.
