            @abigpony It makes a liiiittle difference. For instance, is Appleoosa right there, or is it miles away? If that's miles away, how far is Macintosh Hills? If Macintosh Hills are really far away, are they still next to San Palomino Desert, or are they Southeast of it?

              @thelastgherkin What's the average speed of a steam train? They had to hire an overnight car from the train station ponyville has always had. Use the placement of the sun in appleoosa to estimate their time of arrival and work back from there

                @abigpony These two things are the same thing, geometrically and geographically speaking. If I want to put a coffee table in the middle of the room, I can place it both where I want it and what distance from everything else in the room it needs to be.

                  @thelastgherkin you place it in the center in relation to the walls or he outermost area. You could map and measure how far it is from everything, but they'd still be in the same place.
