    So I've been thinking about this whole "Applejack and Big Macintosh as Apple Bloom's parents" thing. When Applejack is a filly in The Cutie Mark Chronicles, her parents are still nowhere to be seen, but neither is Apple Bloom. So her parents are maybe dead before Apple Bloom was born?

      @thelastgherkin Way I see it, her parents are probably travelling salesponies, or something of that nature. I mean, the amount of apples that farm grows would surely feed way more than just one town, so it's not that unthinkable that they travel from town to town selling Sweet Apple... uh, apples.

          @thelastgherkin Yep. And it keeps them out of the show, without preventing them from being able to come back and raise Apple Bloom during the intervening years that we didn't see.
