@why @nerthos there is like over 20 The series goes back to the ps1 times and nowdays it comes as a series of independent trilogies.
On ps2 you can play Atelier iris 1, 2 and 3 and also the spin of series mana kemia.
on ps3 you can play Atelier rorona, totori and meruru (the arland series, they all have ehanced ports to Vita)
Also on ps3 is the Dusk series (ayesha, escha&logy and Shallie)
The most recent series is the misterious series, which is Sophie, Firis and Lidy. Firis was the first entry in the series for PC (sophie came after Firis on PC, despite being the first one in the series)
All the ps1 ones are in japanese, but starting from the ps2 games all of them have been translated to english (except one spin off names Helmina and Culus)

@mushi @why if you do not like the excessive Moe you see in the recent ames i suggest you trying the Iris series for ps2, it is pretty different from the rest of the sreies

@mushi Atually, Atelier Iris 2 is pretty amazing, and it is the first one in the Iri's chronology, so anyone can just start playing with this one

@mushi @mushi i guess i'll start with the Iris games then (whenever i get to it). In terms of gameplay, which is the most fleshed out/complex? And are the vita/psp remakes faithful upgrades or should I play the originals?

@why The vita ports are pretty much the same games with a couple of good extras.
The point of the series is not being hard so, like most of the JRPGs they got simple gameplays. The newer titles have better Synthesis systems, IMO, but the iris series is better overall, as they have much better plots than the newer ones (Well, Atelier totori does have a plot a liked, different from the rest of the arland series, but it doesnt weight on the game as much as in the Iris series.
Well, if you like highschool themes things you could try the mana khemia series as well. The atelier fans seem to like those a lot, but i didnt get much far in the first game because i wasnt liking itFriday, 16-Mar-18 16:23:51 UTC from web-

@mushi good to know. I dont mind a simple jrpg gameplay as long as it's interesting or different (which the alchemy theme seems to be)
