      2. @redenchilada Looks like a whiteboard, so most likely it's an eraser that's picked up a little too much ink and can no longer truly erase to full-white.

        1. @bitshift nope. its a school desk and pencil smudge. if your light enough with your eraser, you can smudge instead of erase. i also can add a bit of pencil to smudge.
