    3. @abigpony Sounds like they've started from a position of "I hate Obama personally" and tried to reverse engineer a political opinion from that.

      1. @ceruleanspark probably. Maybe I shouldn't be fishing for legitimate political views and opinions on 4chan.

        1. @abigpony Maybe if you piped those views into reddits hyper-left-wing hivemind, you might be able to create some kind of reasonable middle ground.

          1. @ceruleanspark having 2 bees does not prevent you from getting stung. In fact, you are most likely getting stung twice.

          2. @ceruleanspark and here I thought the whole of popular internet communities was majorly right-wing

            1. @pony I guess if you are right wing the majority of communities you'll frequent will be right wing too. It's like a filter bubble.

              1. @ceruleanspark 'doh.. I mean left-wing.. but yeah.. that makes sense sort of. I feel like most l=places I visit are majorly left wing though. I'm centrist but since I'm also conservative I tend to lean right.

                1. @pony People on the internet tend to be younger and more idealistic, which tends towards anti-establishment views. Whilst the left leaning view is not anti-establishment per-se, many young people tend to view the right wing as "the establishment" and thus take up the naturally opposing view by default.

                  1. @ceruleanspark hmm.. I hadn't thought of it as idealism before. I thought kids just liked to rebel, but that makes sense too. I never saw the establishment as entirely good or bad as a teen but I was conservative then like I am now so I valued the general stability it brought to family and conservative lifestyles.

                    1. @pony I think for some issues (for instance, drug legalisation, or copyright) people are just taking up a contrary view because they think it makes them unique/special, but some "progressive" views are based on genuine passionate belief that a change is required (Equality law, for instance).

                      1. @ceruleanspark What I find interesting is that many who believe strongly that gay marriage should be legalized are also quite conservative themselves, yet so many on the far left appear liberal. To me it's just an example of how the bipartisan system is altogether inadequate.

                        1. @pony heck! I know there are quite a few gay couples who want to adopt, etc, but they don't support gay marriage.

                        2. @pony I think it's probably down to a strong belief in the traditional conservative family structure. They want everyone to be able to experience a close analogue to the traditional nuclear family.
