Was an explanation ever given for why a race of sentient Equines in a world more or less devoid of bipedal creatures would invent riding saddles?
-
@ceruleanspark Magic. It's in the title, d00d.

@ceruleanspark It's not devoid of bipedal creatures. There are dragons, griffons, diamond dogs...

@thegherkinprincess My specific issue is that none of them could ride a horse, with the exception of Spike, who won't be able to when he grows up. The diamond dogs maybe, but even they seem a little big to feasibly ride a pony.

@ceruleanspark Just because we haven't seen any rider-size creatures doesn't mean there are any. It's like the people who wonder why the cups have handles - hello, Spike and Gilda have fingers!

@thegherkinprincess It was Twilights response to Spike treating her like a regular horse in "A Dog and Pony Show" that got me thinking about it. If it's degrading to them to be treated like that, why in Equestria would they invent a tool to make it easier?
-
@ceruleanspark Well Spike rides on Twilight's back in several other episodes, including the pilot, sooooo.

@petalbasedweaponry You're forgetting how little involvement Hasbro actually has in making the show. They veto stuff they don't like, but it's basically Faust and the studio that makes all the decisions like that.

@petalbasedweaponry I know that's the real reason, but it's just not very satisfying.

@petalbasedweaponry I'll have some of whatever you're smoking.

@petalbasedweaponry Uh...I...Yeah!
