Metro 2033 is genuinely creepy in a lot of places.

@ceruleanspark Is it? The trailer for the other game looked genuinely nice and dark and stuff. Gonna add that to my LP list.

@neurario Oh yeah. I only played the first couple of hours last night and I genuinely jumpy when I got done. The absence of HUD elements combined with genuinely strong enemies in addition to the dark environments really work well together. Also the anomalies and their associated hallucination sequences are weird and disconcerting in all sorts of ways.

@ceruleanspark Yeah, I really liked the atmosphere when I played it the first time. I went back to it after reading the book and it ruined it for me, but that's OK.

@jla I'm reading the book alongside the game. I can understand the motivation for a lot of the narrative divergence (Walking around being afraid of everything is hardly an absorbing action hook), but given that the author was directly involved in the games development, I am surprised it as severe as it is.
