            2. @critialcloudkicker This is the question I was born to answer.

              1. @ceruleanspark Suppose I want a nerf gun ( or equivallent ), but not to do any nerf-battles but for post-apocalyptia roleplaying. And I am looking for the thing with the most accuracy and the most range to it. What would be the best Vortex and the best "bullet" choice ? I have looked at the longstrike, I think I would get it if I actually could get it around here somewhere, I doubt the range is going to be THAT MUCH better than the Maverick though... Any idea's ?

                1. @critialcloudkicker The firing characteristics of the disk and dart based guns are completely different. The disk based guns do have better range because of the disks, but are incredibly susceptible to any wind at all. In contrast, the darts won't go as far, but generally go where you aim them. I've got very little experience with the disk blasters, preferring the dart ones. Of the dart firing blasters, the king is the rare and expensive "Long Shot CS6". However, assuming you don't plan on spending 60 or more currency units on a gun that shoots sponge darts, the "Retaliator" is probably your best bet. I'm also personally partial to the Rough Cut, but that's less accuracy and more of a shotgun type deal.

                  1. @ceruleanspark Actually no shop around here even has the longshot CS6 in stock. I would happily spend 60 Euro for something that looks as cool as that though. I am looking at the Retaliator as we speak, for being anything short of a tank in post apocalyptia RP, shotguns are rather dumb.

                    1. @critialcloudkicker This is the only disk weapon I approve of and it's not even generally available: https://lh3.ggpht.com/-dgCnffTABL8/URgQEHOadjI/AAAAAAAABEo/g2_vIKJbOFs/s640/revonix.PNG

                      1. @ceruleanspark Oh wow, that thing looks awesome, too bad I am not even sure if disks are allowed. Either way my brain is already painting it half-rusted, combat worn, and generally junky looking. Not sure if that is good :D

                        1. @critialcloudkicker It is worth noting that the Retaliator can accept the sniper barrel from a Longstrike. Also it has a rail for a scope. (Generally the barrels handicap real world range though)

                          1. @ceruleanspark So if I were to magically materialize a Longstrike barrel and attach it to my Retalliator I would get less actual range with my darts ? ... The Longshot's barrel is longer right ?

                            1. @critialcloudkicker All barrels on nerf guns just increase friction on the darts. It's not as though there's a hop-up or rifling involved. And you can probably just nab a longstrike barrel on ebay if you want one for aesthetic reasons.

                              1. @ceruleanspark Actually I think that I would be more interested in modding the living daylights out of the looks ( but not the internal mechanism ) using wood, a 3D printer, and bits and pieces of metal and loads and loads of screws. It is post apocalyptia we are talking about, guns have been handed down for generations, having had nearly 300 repairs. As a side effect disputes in post apocalyptia is 9 our of 10 times settled with diplomacy. And in the more extreme cases diplomacy and assassinations. But I thank you for the info :)

                                1. @critialcloudkicker You can make a pretty good looking "Ghetto barrel" (IE, not chunky and more weatherable) with PVC pipe. You can even get a decent enough vacuum seal that the barrel doesn't ruin the performance.

                                  1. @ceruleanspark Just for funzo's I am looking at some mod video's on youtube, It looks like I can exchange a lot of the internal components with steel ones due to my vast collection of junk. I probably won't but one can dream ^^

                  2. @ceruleanspark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16LoeQlwSIM "it has a direct plunger system inside" Ehmm, by your experience, is there any website that explains the inner workings on a nerf gun with this sort of jargon explained in the footnotes ? that's be great :)

                    1. @critialcloudkicker The short version is that direct plungers are superior, but here are the specifics: http://nerf.wikia.com/wiki/Direct_plunger http://nerf.wikia.com/wiki/Reverse_plunger
