@yodelerty lol Thanks. I imagine we won't work during the winter (sort of difficult to dig holes in the ground when it's frozen), but I doubt the summers will be anything like I'm used to

@flaredancer I don't know too much about northern European summers but, if they're anything like the summers I'm used to, you're not going to spend too much time above 21°C so prepare to be cold.

@yodelerty Yeah, and I'm sure the work will help keep me warm. At least I won't be working in jungle. One of my professors is a Maya archaeologist, so he works in Central America. He deals with killer bees, bot flies, snakes that can jump 18 feet, scorpions, tarantulas, and 35C+ weather with 100% humididty

@yodelerty They've only had two people die on excavation, though. If someone needs serious help, they call in helecopters to get them to a hospital. I forget what happened to one, but the other was struck by lightening after making light of the Maya religion

@nerthos I played water polo in high school; gave a girl a black eye once :3 Hockey reminds me a bit of it, only they're above the water and it's frozen. Similar sort of offensive/defensive arrangements and there's lots of sneaky violence involved.

@nerthos Yeah :3 I'm a goalie, though. While I like to be out in the thick of things, my skills are better in the goal. I'm quick and stronger than people expect me to be.

@flaredancer I remember in school, when playing football the positions were arbitrarly decided. When someone said to me "Go to the goal" I replied with "If the ball comes too fast, I'll evade it" and everybody tought I was joking. I wasn't.

@nerthos One of the ways we decided who would be a good goalie was to put the girls in the goal and throw the water polo balls at their face. I blocked, instead of dodging or getting hit, and did so fairly consistantly. I only got hit in the face a couple times, and those shots came from around 2 meters out
