  1. So it's playing god to bring back animals we as a species drove to extinction? Explain that one to me.

    1. @ceruleanspark they're just mad because they are not bringing back the dinosaurs

      1. @mushi We can't. The DNA is too severely degraded. We'd need a quantum AI or something to bruteforce replace the missing sections.

        1. @ceruleanspark i thought the biggest problem was thesmaller amount of O2 on the atmosphere. but that is it, if they cant do it awesome, they dont want it to be done at all

          1. @mushi The animals they want to bring back are things like the Tasmanian Tiger or the Dodo. Animals that have only been gone for a short time.

            2. @ceruleanspark ooh, i'd love to see a dodo someday xD. but complaining about playing god is always a bad argument, i've seen people complaining that dorctors do it

              1. @mushi Its especially stupid in this case. Weren't we also playing god when we made them extinct in the first place?

                1. @ceruleanspark nah, we were just playing stupid back then (not that we are not doing it now at all)

        2. @ceruleanspark Just swap in some frog DNA!

          1. @theglark Our understanding of genetics is not sufficient to do that, as we'd have to have accurately mapped both genomes and have some solution to the problems posed by pleiotropy before we could start swapping out one sequence for another.

            1. @ceruleanspark Yeah, sadly...

              1. @theglark Plus, as @mushi pointed out, they need a higher O2 level in the atmosphere to actually live.
