Anyone know much about the Samsung Galaxy S II? Trying to decide if it's worth the money

@nerthos Does @redenchilada have one?
-
@flaredancer As far as I know, yes.

@nerthos Awesome. I can get one for free from my current phone company, but then I'll be locked into a nearly $100/mo. phone bill for two years, or I can get one for around $300, but it's a $55/mo. phone bill with no long-term contract.
-
@flaredancer The second one sounds much better. Still 55 a month sounds outrageous to me.

@nerthos Yeah... yay, capitalist, consumer culture? In either case, if it's not worth the $300, I'll go with the phone that's only a little over $100, and get the $55/mo. phone bill, and see if anything better come available

@flaredancer What's the other one with the cheaper contract? The SII is pretty good but it does have some ...issues....

@redenchilada The other phone I was looking at was the HTC One V (also on Virgin) but it doesn't have as much internal memory (specs say 4gb, but only 1gb available for the user). Though, it was only a little over $100 as opposed to $300

@flaredancer I think one of my friends has something like that. It's an HTC One something, at least. No clue what he thinks of it, though.

@redenchilada Yeah, I don't really know too much about 'em.

@flaredancer As a device, it's pretty good. Haven't had any issues with it being able to run the stuff I've put on it (that weren't related to the CM9 install I put on it). It has reception issues, like, I've missed calls because the phone never rang on occasion, but it gets 95% of them as long as you watch over it and reboot it if it's not getting a signal. Part of that will depend on the carrier you're getting it from, though; in the US each carrier has a slightly different version of the SII. (Sprint's [which I have] is the most different from the rest, to the point where its shape is slightly different.)

@redenchilada It would be through Virgin Mobile, which is on Sprint's network. Glad to hear it's a good phone, though. Hopefully it'll come down in price a bit before I buy
