Now anyway, I'm going to announce an ambitious new fanfiction series set in what I like to call the Owliverse (AKA Alternate Equestrian Universe #735)! Set over the course of 30 years, this series follows many ponies doing pony things. Solve mysteries with Fetlock Holmes, the shady private eye for hire! Watch as secret agent Black Tide strives to foil the evil Nightmare Cult! D'aaw as Luna adapts to a thousand years of missed development! Follow the mane 6 as they embark on a quest to save their best friend from certain doom. And will you root for the honourable thief, Carbon Gem, as he prepares to steal from the most secure vault in the world?

@princessfluttershy Sounds more grimdark than sadfic but hell I love grimdark just as much as I do sad stories. Then again, I'm always gutted when any of them die in bad ways, I remember feeling awful because almost all of them had bad ends in Fallout Equestria.

@princessfluttershy :'( Poor pinkie... although that does open up 2 questions for me: 1) If she's doing it to stop her best friends getting murdered, why is she torturing Rainbow Dash and planning to do the same to Applejack in Cupcakes? 2) Why doesn't she just kill Rarity?

@theowl Well, I guess she forgot about the deal, but when she killed Rainbow Dash *BOOM* she remembers? And she doesn't kill Rarity since Rarity's pretty famous, so if she went missing ponies would notice.

@princessfluttershy or like she was hyponotised or something? I like the idea of the story, but I'll be honest, her forgetting that she was only doing it to save her friends strains the suspension of disbelief. I suppose what I'd do if I were in your shoes would be to make it a spiritual sequel instead of a direct sequel, since that would allow you to write your own fanon instead of following Cupcake's fanon. But hey, if you can pull it off that would be cool.
