I like the idea of the story, but I'll be honest, her forgetting that she was only doing it to save her friends strains the suspension of disbelief. I suppose what I'd do if I were in your shoes would be to make it a spiritual sequel instead of a direct sequel, since that would allow you to write your own fanon instead of following Cupcake's fanon. But hey, if you can pull it off that would be cool.
