@bitshift Ironic.

@thelastgherkin I mean, in fairness I've crushed on a few Doctors (cough Eight cough), but I'm not about to say that must be a requirement for the role. It just bothers me that such a sentiment is likely to prevent there being a "real" Doctor played by an old man in the new series for a while, no matter how good said actor is.

@bitshift "Oh, he’s too old! Well, he’s too fat isn’t he? No! He’s too thin! That one’s too young! Oh now that won’t do at all! This is ridiculous!"

@bitshift I'm not an expert but isn't the character like, 1200 years old or something?
-
@ceruleanspark Thereabouts, yes. He's also been played by at least two actors who already counted as old men by the time they were in the role, just not during the *current* run.

@bitshift Is he to be succeeded by Sir Patrick Stewart?

@rotation Not as far as I know, but I'd watch that any day.
-
@bitshift He will then be replaced with Sir Ian McKellen.

@rotation And then Vicious will turn out to be a Who spin-off where the Doctor is living with the Master, but they're both chameleon arch'd?
-
@bitshift God, Vicious is awful. How could they take such an awesome premise and make it into a terrible show?
