               @nerthos @pony As an incubator, I can field this question. Incubators aren't actually trying to screw contractees. They select contractees liable to screw up their own wishes. "Magical girl potential" isn't just about the amount of entropy they can negate. Every "failed" wish that is depicted is a result of people not being honest with themselves about what they want.

            @mushi @nerthos wouldn't wishing not to fight witches essentially mean wishing to not be a magical girl? You typically make the contract in order to make a wish and as payment you fight witches. So if you make a contract and the sole condition is "I don't have to pay" and wish for nothing else then you basically remain the same.

               @pony If you wished not to fight witches, you'd simply have a soul gem that your own wish prevented you from recharging should you fall into despair. You'd either have to become a magical girl charity case, or become a witch yourself.

                     @pony A persons soul gem can become corrupt as a result of sadness or despair. Homura still had magical reserves left during her battle with Walpurgisnacht, but the thought of her actions harming Madoka is what caused her gem to darken.
