      1. @humbletraveller There's a difference between how that was brought up and how it was brought up yesterday, and you freaking out about it is worse than just saying nothing.

              2. @humbletraveller @flamingpandaomg Ok, let's settle this before it escalates. Religion as a topic is fine. It can be brought up. It's just a matter of discussing it from a theological or historic point of view, intelectually, as opposed to a faith point of view.

                1. @nerthos agreed. and arguing over whose religion is better is a waste of time. im sure most people would agree no matter their religion that their God(gods) would not LOGICALLY want them to quibble over something so petty. agreed.

                  1. @humbletraveller Religion is a fairly interesting topic to be honest, more so because it has shaped civilization since the very beginning. It's interesting how many religions revolve around the same events, giving a hint that they might have actually happened.

                    1. @nerthos true, true. people just need to not feel that urge to push their religion onto others and to not be discouraged when others tell them the dont like or dont follow their religion. agreed. a friendly chat about religions is fine if the "follow mine" thing doesnt come up. A Christians job is to encourage others and to "plant a seed" in others hearts.

                      1. @humbletraveller That's basically the basis of the problem. More than one religion encourages preaching and taking on the role of missionary, and if two preachers of different faiths clash, it often ends in discord.

                              1. @humbletraveller Conflict lets humanity focus on survival, on building. It's not a matter of sin, but of our nature. We grow restless if life is too easy, seeking a way to discharge our violent impulses. War gives us the chance to do that, and the destruction brought by it gives us a need to band together to rebuild. WWII for example brought relative peace to Europe for the first time in history. The problem with war is that recently it has become a game of cowards behind desks, rending it sort of useless and more draining than anything else.

                              1. @humbletraveller “What a cruel thing is war: to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbors, and to devastate the fair face of this beautiful world.” ― Robert E. Lee

                                    1. @nerthos he claims war was sad and aweful, yet he massacered thousands of people... THATS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

Saturday, 01-Jun-13 23:39:48 UTC from web
                                      1. @humbletraveller He fought for what was his, for his people and family. He fought an enemy that came from his own country. There was no good and bad in that war, just two factions fighting to keep their ways of life. Without the threat of an enemy, he would have probably lived his life in peace.

                                        1. @nerthos well, okay. Speaking of war. Strange isnt it how everytime the US skrews up in Israel, the US is graced with a horrible disaster? Hmmm...someone mangoesed of the wrong God...

Saturday, 01-Jun-13 23:44:31 UTC from web
                                          1. @humbletraveller I don't think it has to do with any god. USA's weather is volatile due to years of climatic change and contamination, and it's unrelated to what happens on Israel. In any case I don't like Israel as a country. I have nothing about indivicual jews, but Israel, at risk of sounding offensive, is modern day's nazi Germany. When every single neighbor dislikes you, you don't burn down their buildings with white phosphorus, you just move.

                                2. @lordsombra87 War puts brothers against one another, but also it creates lasting bonds between those who fight together. Were not for war, families would consume themselves over petty conflicts and unneeded drama.

                                  1. @nerthos Agreed. And i have another quote from Lee. “It is well that war is so terrible, or we should grow too fond of it.” ― Robert E. Lee
