      @vt3c Right click the layer in the layers window and pick Add Alpha Channel if it's available (if it isn't, it already has it enabled), then use the wand tool to pick out all the white and just hit the delete key.

        @redenchilada or even better: color -> color to alpha -> select white and it should do it.
