  1. Does anyone understand houses? Why are higher house prices celebrated, when every other increase in the cost of living is criticised?

    1. @rotation high house prices mean that people have enough money to get loans on those houses, which generally means an increase in income.

      1. @rarity Hmm, that might work, but people here have seen house prices treble in the past 10 years while their incomes have remained mostly static. Yet this is seen as a good thing.

        1. @rotation My suggestion is probably terribly basic and possibly wrong, I have no expertise in the housing market

    2. @rotation The people who write the "High house prices are good" narratives are all people who've got multiple homes in buy-to-let schemes, and are thus, making a goddamn fortune from it.

      1. @ceruleanspark Sadly, this seems to be the case. Don't understand why more people don't question these things.
