    3. I think I just figured out why I like this place, and why Google+ doesn't make sense to me: it's the ability to lurk quietly and see what's going on. Everything goes onto the public timeline, and the pace is such that it's actually possible to keep up with the flow of conversation. On top of that, it's rather intuitive what you're basically supposed to do here: type in the box, hit the big "Send" button, and it shows up. After that, it's just a matter of getting used to the site layout and replying. On the other hand, there's Google+. When I signed up, I got a bunch of links to "Hangouts" and "Sparks" and "Circles", and other weirdly-named things that were far from self-explanatory, and a pretty much blank page. How am I supposed to find new people? Type random names? All in all, it feels just about as "social" as email, except less straightforward.

      1. ... Mind, I have never used another social network. It was years before I even *saw* Facebook after it came out, and I still don't really grasp what it offers that's of such value that everyone and their dog is signed up there. So it's probably just me.

        1. @starshine Social netwroking in my eyes is stupid and pointless. I try to talk to people as much as possible, and I agree I like to lurk as well. And the facebook chat was annoying as hell, here I am lurking PING HURR DURR WHAT YOU DOING. No. Go away. I actually deleted my Facebook account, but I stay on G+ just because I have several hundred Bronies in my Brony circle now.

          1. @mrdragon Okay, how did you get to that point? Did you know them beforehand?

            1. @starshine Nope, I just found a few then went out into their friends and just dropped them into that circle as well.

              1. @mrdragon So, what, you just pick a bunch of people with pony pictures and hope they're interesting? :|

          2. @mrdragon But isn't RDN a social networking site as well? It's just Twitter but for Bronies.

            1. @leonkfox I class it as a, social medium. Not a Social network. I can't view your persional information at want, I can't see your names half the time(real ones) so I class it as a medium. The idea is there, but the netowrking past is now.

              1. @mrdragon Yeah, Twitter usually doesn't have personal information of its users, it's mainly Facebook that does.

            2. @leonkfox The difference is, this site has a point. Twitter is just stupid. The signal/noise ratio is horrible, and you can't just watch the site and find people (which is the same problem that G+ has).

              1. @starshine I've met several of my best friends through Twitter and kept in close contact with several others through it, quite a big point for me.
