  1. Just had an A-10 squadron land from Barksdale... Half of those guys have been to Iraq and Afghanistan, so that means storytime tonight.

    1. @fireshock A-10s are my favorite aircraft. They're so cool...I've had a few fly around us over here. We mostly see Apaches, Blackhawks and Kiowas here though.

        1. @kingcarcinopony Kiowas are pretty nifty too! Of course, I'd fly any of them honestly.

          1. @communistprimemon I actually don't know what that is? For once I am stumped.

            1. @kingcarcinopony Kiowa Warrior, look'er up. They're usually attached as scouts. A civilian airframe modified for military use, it's a scout helicopter that can also carry a nice armaments payload.

              1. @communistprimemon interesting

      2. @communistprimemon That's awesome! Yeah, I intended to orginally apply as a F-16 pilot, but after researching and seeing each fly, I decided to switch over to the A-10, which is by far the best USAF aircraft. We mostly get Apaches and Chinooks here at Moody, rarely a Blackhawk, and never a Kiowa

        1. @fireshock We've had Chinooks land near us a couple times to drop people off, and we see Kiowas more often than Apaches. I've seen a few jets overhead, but I couldn't tell what they were from the ground. I'd fly anything, if I was able. Maybe one day I'll come back in as a warrant officer or something.

          1. @communistprimemon Wait, why aren't you able to fly? And where are you exactly, in terms of area. Our squadron has had to fly between states more often than not, who know, that could have been us!

            1. @fireshock Well, I'm an intelligence analyst first off. Secondly, I'd rather like to ETS now that I have the chance to. Right now we're in Kandahar City, been here for...a bit over three months now. But we deployed from Ft. Wainwright, AK.

              1. @communistprimemon An IA, I don't now if their all like it, but ours are jokesters. Yeah, if I had that chance, i'd take it as well. Ft. Wainwright? Hmmm, i'd have to check, but I think a group of our guys landed there a few months ago... Ah, Kandahar City, I'm pretty sure one of our F-16 squadrons is in that area. Not sure though, the Air Force has been pulling planes out since 2010

                1. @fireshock We're a nerdy bunch, so I wouldn't doubt it. The nearest USAF base to Wainwright is Eilson (spelling?), which is to the south. I believe Wainwright is the farthest north Army base in the world.

                  1. @communistprimemon Eielson. I believe you're correct, Wainwright is the farthest north. Now why our A-10's were there... Gotta get in certain amount of miles per month to pass.
