  1. Wow, I just realized how long it's been since I've last checked in here. Guess I've just been caught up in some... Situations, so to speak. I really need to get out more often. Friday nights are meant to be spent in Atlanta on weekend break... Not in a dorm room staring out the window at the moon

  2. *repost, internet cut out* The entire portion of Moody AFB is getting ready to respond once Irene passes through. We're already got teams in North Carolina, and they're saying it isn't pretty.

  3. Well, just got this from HQ. After my training is complete, I'm going to be stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

  4. Stories from the front: Capt. Marcus Dest is a veteran of the Gulf War, and every operation since. The A-10 he flies, the "Sky King", has been hit by every bullet that is found in the Middle East, and is one of the original A-10's made during the Gulf War. During his past deployment, he flew 357 sorties against the Taliban, hitting caves and houses. And oddly enough, he's never been hit personally by a bullet, his plane has stopped all of them.

  5. Well, as a way of spending my five hour day pass, I... Uh, spent part of it at Toy's R Us... I now have six new traveling partners.

  6. @communistprimemon Eielson. I believe you're correct, Wainwright is the farthest north. Now why our A-10's were there... Gotta get in certain amount of miles per month to pass.

  7. @communistprimemon An IA, I don't now if their all like it, but ours are jokesters. Yeah, if I had that chance, i'd take it as well. Ft. Wainwright? Hmmm, i'd have to check, but I think a group of our guys landed there a few months ago... Ah, Kandahar City, I'm pretty sure one of our F-16 squadrons is in that area. Not sure though, the Air Force has been pulling planes out since 2010

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 17:13:03 UTC from web in context
  8. @communistprimemon Wait, why aren't you able to fly? And where are you exactly, in terms of area. Our squadron has had to fly between states more often than not, who know, that could have been us!

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 17:02:14 UTC from web in context
  9. @communistprimemon That's awesome! Yeah, I intended to orginally apply as a F-16 pilot, but after researching and seeing each fly, I decided to switch over to the A-10, which is by far the best USAF aircraft. We mostly get Apaches and Chinooks here at Moody, rarely a Blackhawk, and never a Kiowa

  10. @kingcarcinopony Whoop whoop whoop... you hear that, and you know help is on the way.

  11. Just had an A-10 squadron land from Barksdale... Half of those guys have been to Iraq and Afghanistan, so that means storytime tonight.

  12. @kingcarcinopony Or taken a greater toll on those who fought it. I do have to admit though, never was a greater helicopter created

  13. @kingcarcinopony Oh yeah, the M60 is much better. Being it was used in the Vietnam War, that already demonstrates it's greatness

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 16:02:52 UTC from web in context
  14. @heartstring No problem. If I were you, go with the music career... Probably have a better chance of making something of yourself.

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 15:58:08 UTC from web in context
  15. @kingcarcinopony The Navy (Including the SEALs) are the primary users of the M60... The Army use to be, but they switched over to the M240.

  16. @colfax I think they know we respect them... And we have to, otherwise they can eff up our planes like there's no tomorrow. But it's common knowledge that pilots easily respect their ground crews more than the officers themselves

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 15:04:50 UTC from web in context
  17. @kingcarcinopony Oh don't even get me started on the M16. The Marines can keep them. The XM8 was just too good, I mean, about 60% of it was plastic, and that was too keep the temp down and increase it's reliability. I still think we should make the G36 a standard for U.S. Forces. And a standard 7.62? That's what the M60 fired.

  18. @heartstring The only way to get astronaut stauts without actually trying. Believe me, test pilots are some of the most respected guys in the Air Force, because we all know that at some point, they might die, and it won't be their choice. Well, after breaking my ankle in BT, I had to have surgery on it (I basically have a metal ankle now) and I was still able to complete BT and continue on. So, I doubt they would have a problem with eye surgery... But i'll ask somebody about it, just to be sure.

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 14:45:36 UTC from web in context
  19. @kingcarcinopony Yes, and that's the part that sucks... Everyone else gets the M4 Piece-o-crap. You're right, that right there is a pistol. The M1911 is what everyone wants.

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 14:42:13 UTC from web in context
  20. @heartstring Even if you have bad eye sight, the Air Force still has planes that you can fly (Though flying a combat fighter is considerably harder to achieve with eye sight problems)

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 14:32:40 UTC from web in context
  21. @kingcarcinopony A favorite gun? Hmmm... As a pilot, we carry pistols... But, my favorite is the G36C... Ones that the U.S. actually uses, the SCAR.

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 14:31:45 UTC from web in context
  22. @heartstring At some point in your life you need to fly a jet, whether it be by yourself or with an instructor... It's one of those bucket list things. And I know this is expected, but i've done this for so long now, i'm use to it... still exciting though

  23. @mrn4rmn4rm Well that just made me sad. xD

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 14:21:18 UTC from web in context
  24. @mrn4rmn4rm I don't care what the lastest trend is... As long as my VHS player works, buy all the VHS tapes! Besides, having Top Gun on VHS is the only way to view it.

  25. @scribus Oh yeah... Gotta love the MiG-28s. I just love how they portray the Russians in Top Gun

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 13:43:46 UTC from web in context
  26. @kingcarcinopony If there was, then I'd die a happy man

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 13:37:59 UTC from web in context
  27. @mrn4rmn4rm Sorry to hear that... I mean, if you're looking to develop leadership and all that, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then the Navy, if given the chance, is a great choice.

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 13:37:38 UTC from web in context
  28. @scribus Russia? I could see that... But, in our class, we're taking bets on who has the balls to bomb China when they get the chance. First... Japan, then... China... Next... the world!

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 13:30:11 UTC from web in context
  29. @kingcarcinopony Why is it that when I take off for the first time in the A-10, I want that to play? RIDE INTO THE DANGER ZONE!!

Thursday, 11-Aug-11 13:29:10 UTC from web in context
  30. @mrn4rmn4rm What are you thinking about? If I were you, I would join thr Navy... But if so, try and become a pilot. From what i've heard, those guys are like royalty.
