    1. @noizybrony What kind of mic are you using?

      1. @heartstring Condenser Mic. a CAD C195. It's not really a problem of clipping, cause i can fix that with limiting. It's more a problem with tone and EQ.

        1. @noizybrony are you getting a really "thick" bass heavy sound out of the mic? Or is it too thin? The former is easy to fix. What kind of interface are you using, and are you using a computer program to record it? And if so, which one?

          1. @heartstring it's not thick, but it's warm, but i can't decide if i want it to sound natural or if i want fuzz treble. I'm using a Tascam US-144MK2 and i'm recording on FL Studio.

            1. @noizybrony Ah, the tascam, I am familliar wit that one. Are you using the dedicated mic side or the guitar in/mic side? I have found that you can get a better sound with the dedicated mic port. The thing with distorted vocals is that they need to be compressed propperly so you won't peak the master volume. I am not as familiar with FL studio, but I just had a look online and it seems similar to Cubase (which I do know how to use). What kind of music are you recording? Warmth is desirable, but it can be overwhelming.

              1. @heartstring I'm using the dedicated Mic port, i've tried the TRS port and it SUCKS for mic recording in my experience. Condenser power is much better. Anyways i'm recording an alternative/punk type song so i dunno if i want a fuzz/garage tone or if i want something along the lines of Smashing Pumpkins.

                1. @noizybrony Hm. I think to begin with you might want to go with the clean tone with just a bit of reverb, that always sounds really nice. Make sure you cut the lower frequencies, say, roll off at about 300 Hz, that will keep it warm without being overwhelming. Then, if you still want the distortion, add it slowly. I bet that you will find that less is more with distorted vocals. I remember once I was recording vocals for a post-rock song, and just for a joke i turned the distortion up a little too far and nearly deafened myself XD. Anyways, I hope I was helpful, good luck with the song! Do you have a soundcloud account or something like that? I would love to hear it when you are done!

                  1. @heartstring Hey man, thanks for the tips. It's sounding much better then how i configured it before! I tweaked with it a little by increasing it a little bit around the 8 - 20khz bands to make it a little brighter and the fuzz is around 39% to give it a bit of a lo-fi feel. Very nice! I hope you weren

Oh and yes, I was wearing 100$ Grado headphones (and partially blew out the left earcup, fml), but don't worry, I listen to music pretty loud already, so I was ok XDDDD
