@limme Good night!
-
@limme Good night! Why didn't you say hi? D:

@limme It's not that the site is super hard to use or anything, it's just that it tends to be used by people who actually work on the field as it has a few "anti theft" features and is usually used as a portfolio.
-
@limme Deviantart is a bit more "professional" whilst tumblr is a bit more social. Either works.
-
@limme Tumblr is easier to use.
-
@limme Deviantart & Tumblr.

@limme here, it's some of mah art since you asked nicely http://rainbowdash.net/url/828966

@limme Showing her in an welcoming pose/stance is a good idea and having her on the market with her table is also a good thing to enforce the setting you want to show her in. Making her bigger is also not a bad idea to make her stand out but be wary not to make her too big.

@limme Good night!

@limme The vet pony was in "Secret of my Excess" (S02E10), after Twilight went with Spike to the foal doctor and before she went to Zecora. I have slightly over 5000 followers but I wouldn't count myself as popular.
-
@limme Yeah.
-
@limme Thanks.

@limme Do whatever you like to do or show or inspires you the most. My whole motivation for my ask blog was to make fan art of the vet pony and inspire others to make her draw too. She's somewhat my favourite pony design-wise from all background ponies. Sadly my plan wasn't that successful. There isn't much art of her on the Internet besides that I made.
-
@limme It's a nice-looking pony. She's a banner seller from the episode "Pinkie Pride". So you can alter that into making her into an art supply seller in general, or a banner designer herself, or completely a travelling salesmare. It wouldn't be tooo different from the portrayal in the show.

@limme Maybe I scared you too much with all the stuff I said. Another idea could be that you use a lesser used background pony you like and create an ask blog around that pony http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_ponies There is a ton to choose from.

@limme I think it's better to sprinkle this throughout the story when applicable. First of all you'll have to introduce your character in an initial post to say what your character is doing. A few panels and a little text might suffice at the start. From this point the readers can ask your character some questions and introduce all the background details whenever it is fitting. On my ask blog the vet pony was on the show and had already a bit of a "background". She is working at a veterinary clinic and knows a lot about snakes and animals alike. I decided to do more stuff on the joke side and use this to create funny stuff based on animals and medicine in general. In your case such a thing might be very hard to pull of many music-related jokes, so a character-driven focus would be the best. It doesn't rule out that you can include jokes too.
-
@limme You can either have a summary on your site, or if you're going for a story-driven blog, go over it slowly as the story progresses.

@limme Honestly I would avoid putting an OC in a romantic relationship with a popular canon character. It has a weird aftertaste. But do whatever you like. The race of your character isn't that important. Its personality has to be the focus. In which circumstances did he grow up? What makes him happy? What makes him angry? Where does he work? How did he get his cutie mark? Who are his friends? With whom is he working with? How are they? Does he has hobbies besides making music? It sounds a bit excessive but answering these question prevents you making your OC to a boring self-insert OC. I play Dungeons & Dragons with my friends and the character creation process is very similar. It gives the DM (storyteller) a direction to push the adventure forward in an interesting way.
-
@limme Your character looks OK. Don't use gradients on the CM, make the outlines less jittery and make the outlines similarly thick (the mane's are way too thin), and he needs a tail (unless there is a reason he has none).
-
@limme I based my blog upon cheap animal and medical jokes. You have to know or have some basic stuff about that character's background to pull off a believable character or environment. You want to use a character that is in the music business then research and mindstorm what happens in that environment. Ask yourself what your character react to those incidences. Maybe you can create a meta narrative around that character. Maybe he wants to get to a certain music hall but has to achieve some reputation. Maybe he has a rival. Maybe the band members are the enemy and kicks the character out of the band and has to regain their trust or build up a new rival band. Maybe there is a manager who is greedy and not healthy for the character's well-being and carreer. Maybe there is a love interest that creates some trouble...

@limme I'm using "PaintTool Sai" for sketching and I finalize them with Photoshop using vector masks. It's easy to create an ask blog but maintining none is another thing depending on how much work you want to put into. Making show-accurate stuff is very tiresome with Photoshop but I know the program from inside out and know all the hotkeys by heart. I still use this because I have already built up a big pile of assets to reuse.
