  1. @wafers The cosmos doesn't matter. The cosmos is not sentient. Pride and honor is what makes a man a man and not just another worthless animal. Letting something win just because on the long run you will die is stupid. If you're going to die anyway, at least don't give your enemy the pleasure of a victory. If we are nothing, then as nothing we shall fall. The enemy won't win if the option of killing both myself and them is there. It's either a victory or a draw. Never a defeat. What you're describing is a figure, not a hero. A hero wants to live or to ultimately get something done. He doesn't do what he does not to be recognized by an inert cosmos, but because he doesn't consider defeat an option. A hero dies a worthy death. Not necessarily on the field of battle, he can die of age. But at some point in his life, he won, or just didn't let the enemy win.
