@nerthos yeah, the first big difference i heard (since i do not watch the show) is that in the books Varys does not scape with Tyrion, he goes missing after Tyrion kills his father and only appreas in the end of the 5th book (i think) killing a some character i dont remember the name (but i think he was sort of important) and saying it was for the kingdom. Tyrion scapes in a barrel and after that he pairs up with an obese cheese seller for sometime
