@axolotttl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signal_%28software%29#Federation
Telegram.

@Melezh @axolotttl Русскоязычных стало меньше, англоязычных стало больше; в целом, зависит от определения "много" %).

@elementary Sure, that occasionally is true, but… isn't it quite literally connecting to a Terminal, just minus the "ssh" command :-)?

@rmdes @colinthemathmo There you go: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/rsspreview

@rmdes @colinthemathmo Oh, never mind, @christianp pointed it out already %).

@lynnesbian A fine first step :-P. -
Literally want to kill somebody

@scribus Scribus, online, with a dictionary. Did I win this game of Cluedo ?
-
@drinkingpony Not quite. I intend to use my hands to remove a skull from a still-living body.
-
@scribus As Carcino would have said (rest in peace)
MORTAL KOMBAT
-
-
@freemo The system influences the society just as the society influences the system though.
It's hard to have a highly moral society in a system that openly rewards malice. -
@jrmy Sorry, that was actually a misquote, it's just text %).

> I think we should continue using the GNU Social favicon, to show our lineage.

@wakarimasen Is this what "identity" looks like :-)? -
> Oh man, people's conception of minimalism has changed beyond recognition. Just sign in to your wordpress.com account and search for minimalist themes. Or search for minimalist WP themes in general. A vast majority of them look like bloated Facebook-ish garbage. :-/ This wasn't the case 10 years ago.
@lohang It used to mean a user interface that takes as little space as possible, now it means an interface with the smallest amount of elements possible, regardless of how much space these elements actually take. -
@genofire @jartigag @matrix I wonder if in libpurple3 something will change regarding the !xmpp support…
Probably not, but I am prepared to be surprised. -
@dalme https://fediverse.network/loadaverage.org is still kicking it as well :-).
More than five years already… -
@bugaevc Hah, I actually did.
It is C99+ (C++ doesn't support it) -
I wonder what cavemen memes were like
Sunday, 30-Dec-18 03:56:25 UTC from web-
@nerthos Remember Captain Caveman ? I don't, I mostly remember how he shouted his name a lot. I think that prehistoric memes mostly were like that, mostly shouting at each other. I think this was also the first form of long range communication
-
-
I smelled memes

What the hell is the point of federation if you just blacklist entire servers at the drop of a hat
Tuesday, 25-Dec-18 20:41:47 UTC from web-
@scribus I see you discovered mastodon't
-
@nerthos I was even looking into starting a Pleroma or Diaspora server before FOSTA/SESTA made that too much hassle.
-
@scribus That shouldn't be an issue at all, AFAIK that only concerns prostitution. And considering no one has closed down god damn switter yet...
You could host in some other country too.

Also happy holidays to you all. Hadn't been around before to leave a message.

@vegos Changed session management to internal, though I have not been logged out myself…
-
@matrix @jartigag Yes, that is correct. The !xmpp support there is in a pretty sad state though.
The minimal package for a libpurple #xmpp user is the following:
https://github.com/noonien-d/pidgin-xmpp-receipts
https://github.com/gkdr/carbons
https://github.com/Junker/purple-xmpp-http-upload
https://github.com/gkdr/lurch (for OMEMO)
> do you know something visually nicer (like adium) for linux?
Err, Dino? -
> just to know, which client is that?
@jartigag Looks like Adium, the libpurple-based IM for macOS. -
> How about 'listeners' for twitter; after all, the 'tweet' is an auditory allusion.
@davehunt So is "toot", by the way :-).
But "post", "notice", "dent", "quip" don't have that effect. -
> Would it change the social psychology of social media if we replaced the terms "follow" and "followers" in the UI with "listen" and "listeners", or "read" and "readers", or some other set of terms with a less ... well ... culty ring to them?
@strypey Do you mean… subscribers? That's what it's called in GNU social anyway. -
-
@pztrn Пока ничего, и я не вижу в сём ничего плохого %).
-
@pztrn А то маловато Electron'а в памяти, да?
