  8. Desktop ponies are the best... having TS and Rarity just wandering around aimlessly makes computering 100x better.

  9. @tinwhistle I lied, one last post before Game of Thrones time. I just thought it was funny that you berated yourself for citing a play when I had quoted friggin EPICTETUS a few comments before... anyways, TV time. Ciao!

  10. Gnarl out. Later ponyfolk.

  11. @tinwhistle I feel like i'm overstaying my welcome, so this'll probably be last. Nothing good comes without effort, and effort is needed to find what makes most people interesting. Because truly, everyone is interesting, most just hide it becaus being interesting isn't, except for a few cases, "cool".

  12. @tinwhistle The issue has nothing to do with you- you've shared your passions with the world! The problem lies in them, and the best thing you could do is be a supportitive and trustworthy friend, making your judgementlessness plain. If you placate their fears of social backlash, they'll share their loves and interests and open their shells.

  13. Also, it seems i may have offended. If this is the case, i apologize, i meant no ill.

  14. @ickus I would never, believe me. Every scene has 10,000 faces, there is no correct or incorrect way of seeing the world. In my default state I'm horribly pessimistic as well, MLP is a bit of an experiment for me, to see if i can change the way i see the world- by force.

  15. it's a terrible thing...

Wednesday, 18-May-11 04:23:01 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
  16. @tinwhistle I think they do, I think everyone has one of those. But societal pressures are a strong and wicked force, and perhaps not everypony gets to express their inner loves. Instead they sit and churn inside until they finally quietly die in middle to old age.

Wednesday, 18-May-11 04:22:21 UTC from StatusNet Desktop in context
  17. @ickus A very realistic point of view, but let's not forget where we are: ponyzone! WHat does MLP stand for, if not boundless optimism?

  18. @tinwhistle Here's the thing: I have no focus. At all. I love biology, literature, architecture, film, art, history, chemistry, language, archaeology, philosophy, medicine, botony, anatomy, writing, sports, television, and a bajillion other things, but I have yet to put any particular effort or focus into one thing or another. I am, indeed, a dabbler. In fact, i'm one of that universally hated class of "THOSE" kids, the ones who study for ten minutes the morning before class and get nice gades all around. So what exactly does this mean? Am I a bad person? I might be a bit biased, but i tend to think not... Please forgive me, but I tend to be a bit direct: Evaluating a person by their focus or lack thereof is not at all a good thing. As Epictetus says: "Does someone drink a great deal of wine? Do not say that they do this badly, but that they drink a great deal. For until you understand their motives, how do you know what they do is bad?"

  19. @ickus Ah! Hello again, I remember you! Relaxed and friendly discussion between bouts of wonderful, wonderful idiocy is basically the best, i agree.

  20. Oh man! I just remembered! Rome just released their album today! Anyone have it yet?

  21. Also i realize how pompous i sound right now, it's a tad uncomfortable. I just have no idea how to communicate these iseas in any other form.

  22. @tinwhistle Philosophical and deep conversation don't really surface much in day-to-day life... unless you seek it out, of course. I was lucky during high school to have philosophicaly-minded friends, but once college started every interaction seemed to be situated around food, class or ladies. I'm not going to lie to you, I have no clue why some people seem to hate deep conversation, but the fact of the matter is that a great many people avoid it like plague. You just have to find the ones who are willing to expose themselves to new ideas and perspectives and-more importantly- are willing to be proven wrong. Which, again, is something I'm sure you've heard before- there's a reason why it gets repeated, you know? Besides, authenticity is nice and all, but a tad overrated. Even shakespere represents a small step past the fables and stories which formed the base of his writings!

Wednesday, 18-May-11 03:56:35 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
  23. @tinwhistle I'm curious what you mean by that, could you explain?

Wednesday, 18-May-11 03:42:19 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
  24. @tinwhistle Everything is vanity at it's deepest level, so constantly second guessing yourself and examining the possible reasons behind your every action isn't going to help much. And that's totally true- every act of communication is a comprimise between the imperfect imput and an imperfect output. But the gradual accumulation of these half-understood thoughts and feelings has built everything around us today, and influences the very way you see the world. By communicating you help the human race to evolve socially and intellectually! Besides, keeping your feelings bottled can only lead to unhappiness. General rule, though, is to listen exactly as much as you talk.

  25. @abigpony don't overload on ponies, yo! Like Warhol says, if you look at a thing long enough, it loses all of its meaning. You'll regain your ponylove with the new season.

Wednesday, 18-May-11 03:31:16 UTC from StatusNet Desktop in context
  26. @tinwhistle Actual legitimate bemused cluelessness. Also: what is there to talk about that ISN'T human experience? All science, philosophy, art and etc. is all just a collective attempt on the part of humanity to share, catelogue or otherwise make sense of billions of individual experiences and emotions! So talk away sir/madam, and by doing so you furthur the understanding of the human race, no matter what you say.

Wednesday, 18-May-11 03:27:39 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
  27. @tinwhistle What on earth are you talking about.

  30. @thecupcakinator I'd think the two are several orders of magnitude apart, size-wise...
