  3. I work for a large European conglomerate, and someone asked the Senior VP of Finance how # would affect us. His answer:

This is a great question but to be honest, I believe it is way to early to understand the consequences of the decision made by the British people.
The financial markets are, as often, over reacting to a news they clearly didn't expect. They are mostly concerned by the ideas it may bring to the mind of other leaders in Europe, i.e. leading to the end of the Union.
No one seriously considered that the Brexit would happen. Thus no one has really prepared for nor fully understood the consequences this decision would have on the various parts of our envrionment (Financial, political, social, etc.).
What we need is a bit of calm and reason. The world is NOT coming to an end. We just need to look at it a bit differently. We will adapt.
As far as [our company] is concerned, our exposure to the UK market is quite limited (less than 4% of our revenue). From a supply chain standpoint, it is even less...
This vote will for sure have consequences but it will take time to get the full picture. However, my guts tell me that it will be much less than what the Financial makets are indicating today.
This is my opinion. For what it is worth...

  8. Get a grip, people. The short-term reaction of the markets to the # vote reflects ONLY the fact that big money had not prepared for the result. It will be months or years before we find out the real financial effects on both the UK and the EU. I'm sure the rulers will have to negotiate for a long time before the split is finalized. If EU leadership is smart, they'll grant some pretty favorable trade terms to UK. If not, they'll wind up with only one strong economy (DE) supporting the rest of the members and dictating harsh terms that may break the whole thing up.

Think long term. The vote is done, what can you as an individual and your nation as a whole do to make the best of it?

Likewise for US residents. The twin parties have made sure the two worst candidates ( # and # ) are almost guaranteed to be their nominees. Either one is likely to have disastrous effects on the nation. Too late, we cannot stop the train wreck. So start thinking about what you as an individual and we as a nation can do to mitigate the damage either candidate is expected to cause.
