I was going to write an article explaining how #GitHub #Copilot, at least in its current incarnation, is problematic enough that you should avoid using it, but this one covers most of what I wanted to say: https://githubcopilotinvestigation.com/

I don't know where I found this link, but it's important news: #Apple's main #CUPS repository (on #GitHub) has very few commits since the main dev left late last year. There's a new CUPS fork at OpenPrinting.org

@grote I'm interested in providing polylines for routes in #Transportr, how should I do that? Recent commit messages don't reveal it despite 2.0.5 release saying "polylines for more networks". .]
I've been mapping and updating the OSM data for public transport v2 in Umeå, Sweden at least.
I can't join the conversation over on #GitHub. -

@tom79 About a year ago I duplicated #AndStatus code depository in #Gitlab and since that time I'm pushing updates to both #Github and Gitlab. Unfortunately, "Issues" aren't part of the public repository, and so they cannot be duplicated easily.
That time I decided that Issues in Gitlab are subpar compared to Githubs, so I stayed with Github for communication with users...
Who knows, maybe Gitlab will be the next bought by some corporation... -

Import your project from #GitHub to GitLab | #GitLab https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/project/import/github.html it's never too late or early to start the migration. The latter is more #freesw friendly.

Thinking about #Microsoft buying #Github makes sense. They bought Linkedin. They want to own all the access points of the tech job market. https://www.engadget.com/2018/06/03/microsoft-github-acquisition-talks/

@hamishcampbell @witchescauldron #GitHub is a classic example of the #dotcons - see the link I posted to "Open Source (Almost) Everything"
-
@witchescauldron you do realise #GitHub is "open core", right?

@raucao #GitHub aren't particularly evil though, just going with the flow. Sadly, even #CreativeCommons HQ use #Slack these days
-
@zatnosk @fla @banjofox some of us prefer to avoid #GitHub due to the chunks of code they refuse to liberate

Where is that link shortener really pointing? This tool will tell you (code on #GITHub)
