In other news, #REBOL still exists. I remember learning about it back in... 1998? The surprising thing is that it apparently survived all the way from 1997 to the end of 2012 without being #opensource. The whole idea of writing software in someone else's proprietary #language just sounds so... incredibly #offputting.

Ayer me regalaron gorras de #redhat y hoy las he regalado a un compañero que tiene siempre en su puesto de trabajo un gorro fedora rojo con pin de #redhat.
En el puesto tenían a mujeres vestidas de rojo muy guapas sinceramente. Pero cuando les preguntabas estaban allí para que rellenases una encuesta y poco más.
No es que no existan mujeres que puedan hablar y responder bien ante una empresa. Pero RedHat optó por mujeres contratadas para un día que cubriesen un evento.
Para mi RedHat representa el #opensource . Y eso supone de algún modo la cara capitalista del mundillo del software libre.
Si tuviese que optar por una solución nunca metería a estos personajes en la ecuación. Pero no siempre es posible.
Por eso digo algunas veces que "al menos es GNU/Linux" con lo que trabajo. No quiere decir que sea lo que a nivel personal usase.
Ubuntu por ejemplo son como Redhat posiblemente el enemigo número 1 del software libre. Pero decirlo queda mal creo. -

Is there an #opensource #alternative to Pocket that people use? I've used Pinboard in the past and it was ok as far as feeling like I wasn't being sold to advertisers, but it's not an open system.

Finally the project to get #Coreboot running on a #T430 (Lenovo Thinkpad) is finished: Had to compile the concurrent state of the repository and now the hybrid graphics is working and can be switched.
Got a notebook with open-source drivers for #NVidia working and now #Hyperbola is the next to be installed. Thanks to my dad for the on-going support and the very cool idea having the bios-chip fixed with cables so the mainboard mustn't be pulled out everytime. And now we could flash this with no further problems! #Open-Source #Free-and-Libre -
The few actual reviews that I see of the #Pi-Top edugame software (+ the bug-reports in their issue-tracker) seem to indicate `it doesn't actually work all that well, the team isn't doing a great job developing/maintaining it, and it's not #open-source so nobody else can fix the bugs when their kids run into them'. "curriculum that can't be adapted or fixed" has always seemed like !education #fail....

@xrevan86 In short, the decision to switch to #Android 7.0 minimum was made to motivate me, @yvolk - developer of #AndStatus, to continue active improvement of this #OpenSource application.
I am a professional Java/Scala developer, and as a majority in our profession I need to keep my skills up-to-date. Starting from Android 7, developers can use all new and trending features of Java 8 and modern application approaches, including functional programming. Especially after mastering #Scala I simply cannot use outdated language patterns... As one of my colleagues put it: I simply cannot afford writing for free something that is not a "Cutting edge".
I think that this is not bad for all of us in the long run?! -
