#CSS3 table layout (display:table etc.) is great, but do NOT combine that with margin and padding for spacing elements: use border-spacing instead #unlearning! Things get especially interesting when nesting table-layout blocks #learning. #theme #hacking

enough for today, I solved some major problems and replaced two similar forms with a single template that is adaptable to its context. \o/ IOW great progress today, but plenty left for #tomorrow :) #theme #piwigo

@bobjonkman and yes, I realize that much of #css3 is still draft or candidate recommendation - but table layout has been aroud (and used) long enough that display oddities should have been shaken out; and table layout (display:table etc.) is a natural solution for forms! #opera #css3 #theme

@bobjonkman if I can come up with some minimal changes that do not break semantics and do not need to create separate code targeting a specific browser, ok, otherwise - poor Opera (or whatever browser does 'the wrong thing') #tough #css3 #theme

@mk it seems that happens to the legends only when the fieldset is set to display:table - when it isn't legends appear at the 'normal' place for legends. so, just a stupid layout bug #opera #css #theme #piwigo

gradually beating some sense in #piwigo's forms in my #theme, with help from #html5 and #css3. also more semantic markup (layout out 'rows' in a form with an unnumbered list is *not* semantic and bad for accessibility)

OK, I need to learn more about (CSS3) table layout: margins and padding don't work on 'table-cell', there must be something else... found it: set border-spacing on the element that gets layout: table. #css3 #theme #piwigo

@mmn wait, I do have Opera installed: It seems to NOT (fully) suport column layout, but on the other hand it does the date in a type=date field in the provided format, while Chromium does not... you win some, you lose some (and forma are always a mess - even in the age of #HTML5!) #THEME #PIWIGO

@mmn about time to fully install Firefox again - desperately need multiple browsers to test my #theme antics on (especially behavior on the new HTML5 input types!) I have this sneaky feeling that all this carefully lining up of form elements will have to be done for each browser all over again :(

Yay, another form modernized (a big one this time), with cleaner and more semantic markup. I'm doing HTML+CSS for all the forms first, before I'll tackle the messy JavaScript (that needs to be consolidated anyway). Time for a bit of crochet for a change! #piwigo #theme #scarf

had a nice Sunday, with a movie, a nice walk, and quite a bit of #theme #hacking for #piwigo. off to my #hammock now, and maybe #tomorrrow I'll finally set up Firefox properly with different profiles: Chromium has some nice features but on the whole it's way too annoying!

good grief, I just found that the same dropdown menu is defined in two places - with different JavaScript to boot! I only repaired one so far :( #piwigo #theme
