@dlcentaur Like I said, children's theatre. If I cared about my image, I certainly wouldn't be wandering around in silly costumes singing silly songs. Trust me, it's impossible to care about reputation. But the same goes for the metaphor; if you hang out with football players, people will see you as a football player, even though you don't consider yourself to be one.

@dlcentaur Just because I hang out with and talk to bronies doesn't mean I am one. To use a poorly-written, sleep-deprived metaphor; just because you're friends with football players, does that make you a football player? Possibly, but maybe you're a person who just likes watching football, or has better things to do with his time than sit around talking about football all the time.

@dlcentaur I'm just saying that there's a certain line that goes from being a fan, to being just plain creepy. I'm talking about the guys with about $5000 of pony merch, (Don't laugh, I know a bloke who actually has that much, perhaps more.) I'm talking about the ones that scream at everyone they know, "OMG Y HAVEN'T U SEEN TEH SHOW YET????? FLUTTERSHY IS BESTEST PONY!!!!" etc. I mean the ones that cover every. Single. Inch of available clothing in pony pins and stickers and patches, who own every single toy ever made and can recite every episode by heart. I know people who've done that and more. Now, don't get me wrong; this fandom's created a lot of amazing things. I've seen some brilliant music, art, writing, and even some quality animation, but the media (and thus, the public at large) isn't going to show that. Instead we get portrayed as the "group of pedophiles that watch animated ponies"

@dlcentaur No. It was like this back in season 2. It's just happened to reach a critical mass in the last few months. Now, I'm not saying all bronies are annoying tossers, mind you; but a large number of the ones I see walking around and stuff have taken obsession to a new level that's just embarrassing to look at.
