I was stressed out today before leaving to work. I was searching for my car key however it took too long and grabbed my spare one from where I keep my car related papers. I knew that I didn't lose them outside. It turned out that the key rolled out of my jeans behind the bed. Enough to not notice on a glance.

@scribus I can remove all the manga stuff from my recommendations by unchecking the purchased manga for the use for these recommendations. I always had some manga in my recommendations but that was a huge flood. As long as my Youtube recommendations aren't f-uped I'm OK. Every time I watch a video of unknown origin or a topic I don't like in general (like a friend linking to a bonkers flat earther video) I use the incognito mode of my browser. Otherwise I'd live in hell.

Dragonquest Your Story is hard to watch. It jumps so erratic forward in time and the character designs and animations are terrible. 20 minutes in and I'm about to turn it off.

First time engraving something in stone (slate). It's the crest of the village of our D&D campaign. The engraving isn't ideal because the piece of slate was not very even. But I would say it is a success. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/875442

Wanted to use my CNC but to my misfortune it's broken. Those crap DRV8825 stepper motor drivers! One of them decided to completely stop working and heat up like a stove when doing nothing. I'm glad I noticed it soon enough to prevent any damage to the workpiece (just a little scratch) or mainboard. So to summarize: two out of three axis work, one is a fire hazard. I ordered replacement drivers in a 5-pack for effectively 2 bucks per piece. As far as replacements go it is fairly cheap to repair.

@adiwan Oh, yeah, the tv show. It is a bit loose in the overarching story department. The movies are more solid in that regard, but the events in them are somewhat ignored for the show.

@adiwan The high frame rate video debate is scheduled to be the next big generational tech gap, according to one headline I skimmed once online. "Gemini Man" will remain dumb, regardless.

@scribus High frame rate video is one thing but another thing to interpolate frames of lower frame rate to a higher and smooth out "choppiness", especially with non-contiguous motion like in animation with few feature points in the picture. High frame rate video will be the norm some day. Right now the amount of data is mostly not feasible or the technology is not good enough to simulate. Current films are exported in 2k because all of the rendering time and visual effects. Also visual flaws get more obvious with a higher temporal resolutions. I heard that "acting" is more apparent at higher frame rates, meaning that the acted motions and emotions are perceived as not genuine.

@adiwan I can vouch for the last bit, a perfect example is the marvel cape movies. They look just fine on tv or a cinema screen, but look at scenes in >1080 60fps on a high DPI cellphone screen and the actors look awkward, movement looks cartoony and poorly acted, you can notice the weird physics from cable pulls and all that.
