@mergemm The new one focuses a lot more on the fact that they are ponies and has completley taken out all humans or aspects of them. They are also while still kind of girly independent and not like the classic barbie appearance/lifestyle(except rarity in a sense). FiM also manages to wiggle in the moral of each episode in without it being forced down your throat and still manages to have some fun that while kids won't get it the older generation will be giggling and trying to hold back from bursting into fits of laughter(guilty of it with the huff the magic dragon reference)

!ottawabronies @nightbreak @djmidli I'm focusing on why the cartoon has become this popular with a demographic so different from the target audience -- popular enough to spawn this brony subculture. Ideally real names would be used, but if there’s concern with that I’m willing to work around it. I do want to make it clear that I’m not out to portray bronies in a negative way. The premise just struck me as curious and I’m sure others would find it intriguing as well. I did commit myself to watching the entire first season when I decided to write this article; I think it’s a cute show with great production, characters and an interesting world. So the appeal is not lost on me :)

@mergemm Well, I can tell you that I came into the new show because I had been a fan of the 80s show when I was, oh, 8. :P I'm sort of a brony-anomaly in that, but it's interesting to be in a fandom from the ground up like this. Trust me, bronies are not alone. Just go to Fandom bananas and see the 'subcultures' that have evolved around any show. !ottawabronies.

!ottawabronies Hi all. I’m a journalism student at Carleton University working on an article about bronies for a magazine writing course I’m taking this semester. !chibronies : !Ottawabronies member here, looking for a Blackhawks fan who'll be going to the United Centre for the game against Columbus on Saturday (or even games after, perhaps). Oct. 29th is your Hockey Fights Cancer Night and there are autographed Blackhawks "Mystery Pucks" for sale. I'm looking to acquire one and will reimburse you for the expenses, shipping, and extra effort. Ottawa Senators still have about fifty remaining from our HFC Night last Tuesday, so I hope the Hawks won't sell out quickly. Can anyone help?

@djmidli Thanks! But I'm not top-tier. I'm slightly under that. I didn't let the fic sit long enough after finishing and took some bad advice on that ending. That idea cost me a star rating. Plus some readers felt nothing happened. They were right. But I can fix all that if I ever get around to "Knots In the Wings" :D I'm no Jetfire or WTF_HIW. They're the top-tier. I don't write like they do.

!ottawabronies. Oh man, I need to make time for that artist training ground sometime. Got too much on the go with my side pony projects in GibbsCAM. Having a hard time tryimg to import vectors. If I could draw my own ponies it would make it so much easier to covert to a .DXF file....sorry, little long winded on my part "Eep"

@syntaxcapt !ottawabronies DXF! I know that format from having to use CAD programs in my school courses. You totally should submit some drawings :) every week they have a new theme and you can submit a drawing pertaining to that theme somehow with ponies. This past week was pirates vs. ninjas. xD And I'd hardly call that long-winded.. I should give apologies to everyone for flooding our wall here so much. Im overpony-enthusiastic. >.< (whatever that means xD)
