Aaand Futurama got stupid again. The newest episode is a riff on children mystery adventure books. It was the most incoherent dumbass crap only Family Guy could produce.

@scribus Yeah. They used children mystery novels as the theme of the episode. Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Tintin et Filou. My reaction might be harsh but it was quite disjointed and too illogical to follow. A lot of jokes are for those who know the book series but a lot more were just random for the sake of being random. I might be wrong but the way the episode was presented rubbed me the wrong way. On the positive: they did a great job adapting the art style of Tintin et Filou.

Also my DIY dry-erase plant tags held up better than imagined. The text was hard but could be scratched off with a fingernail if I had to but a cotton pad with isopropanol could dissolve it in no time. Also the writing surface was fine. Only a few ones were yellowed and now the text is inverted (white on light yellow) but they still work.

Jolie Coeur were initially disappointing in their growth but they exploded in a ton of small-ish dark purple flavor monsters. Gonna grow them again.
Marmande were the general best in all departments: yield, taste, size, resiliency.

I think I can give a verdict for my first gardening season. Green tomatoes like Green Zebra were growing very badly and the ones that grew were very underwhelming and confusing as to determine when they are ripe.
The one Black Krim tomato I could harvest was good but I have the feeling in a better year they could be way better.
The chocolate tomatoes were surprising as how they good they were but disappointing in their lack of chocolatey flavor. I had also a variant with smaller fruits and they were flavor bombs, however I rather want to eat tomatoes on bread and their size were cumbersome.
Yellow Pear tomatoes I had had the same problem, too small for my use. Also their taste was very neutral. Ate them in a salad and weren't contributing to anything but the texture. Won't grow them again.
Also ox heart tomatoes were way too huge and watery in taste. Next year they won't be planted again.Sunday, 22-Sep-24 17:40:40 UTC from web -
The tomato season is winding down. There are only a dozen of tomatoes on the plants left. I had to remove half of my plants as they have no fruits growing and the cold temperatures in the night have stopped any new development and the fungus infection hasn't gotten any better but in a way stable enough not to kill anything immediately.

@zeldatra 60 year old yakuza, who has seemingly not aged a bit, landing with amnesia on a beach on Hawaii, taking over a sail-ship and doing classic pirate stuff. We need something more extreme than jumping the shark to even get close to this.

I think it's probably time to be honest about this: I have neither the time, nor the motivation to work on this place anymore. There's stuff going on in my personal life I'd rather not get into, so in short: I'm probably going to finally turn this place off in the next few months. If you're interested in taking ownership, let me know, but know that I'd only be comfortable handing it off to someone I know and trust, rather than any rando that shows up.

@ceruleanspark Thanks for all the memories, this site was a core part of my adolescence. Found it early in high school right as I was becoming my own self and still think fondly of it even if I haven't regularly used it in a decade. It's always been nice to pop in and see familiar names. This week's Futurama episode is so far the first one of the season that feels like one of the older seasons. The Beany-Baby craze is somewhat relatable as it is more approachable and universal in theme than Bitcoin and NFTs. It was still a bit off in a few places. Not a banger episode but solid.

I feel forced to download any decent picture I come across as I won't be able to find it by any means anymore over the Internet. I have a huge folder of portrait pictures organized by D&D race. I do the same with battle maps as they aren't conveniently searchable.

Google image search and Bing image search, and consequently any other image search, is getting more useless by the minute. I was searching for some portrait images for an upcoming D&D adventure. For example I wanted a few different Kobold images, like a rich snobby type, a miner, cultist-like in a hood. All I got were cartoony, furry AF, overly sexualized, AI-generated, or pure eye cancer in all regards of taste, artistic or image quality.

Poor ol' BlackBerry battery is on its last legs, sometimes shuts down in the 70% range if it's warm or I try running any media. Works well plugged in, though! So now the question is, burner phone or USB battery pack?!? :D

@scribus my phone which outlasted both my parents’ marriage and my cat is starting to get there. Still usable for now but battery capacity is at like 50% now.

@scribus I am struggling as well with mine. It barely lasts a day idling. I have to keep it plugged in over night, otherwise there is a chance it's dead next morning.
