I feel bad. I made someone a bit barfy and dizzy with my VR experiment, such that he had to stop the experiment. It's fine that he did that (I said that it was his right to do that at any time). I just feel bad because I made him feel bad.

@adiwan Aww, how considerate to feel bad, well kinda. I am not 100% sure what you made your guinea-pig do. Maybe you have an all wrong FOV, those things get me queasy on a normal monitor, let alone VR.

So I finally looked up what that mess what about between Leslie Jones ( The black ghostbuster, 2016 ) and Milo Yiannopoulos was about. Holy crap what a lot of noise about bleeding hearts and 'virtuous' trolling. And though I think it boils down to a battle of "everyone should be nice to everyone" vs "I will use freedom of speech in a defiant way to combat your standpoint". Oddly enough this time around I am very much on Milo's side this time around.

@archaeme Ohyeah, good old AMD. I almost always forget about those lovable brand the moment we're beginning to talk about high-end stuff. Mostly because they no longer seem to make high end consumer-grade hardware, and have settled nice in the middle field. I do really hope 2017 is the year that stuff like RYZEN will give Intel a run for their money though. Aswell as whatever they are doing with GPU's

@archaeme Too bad waiting is not one of my strong suits. Also I am seeing more and more CPU abuse on Reddit boards ( especially PCMR ) just because Ryzen is not out yet.
But the way some people are talking about it ( mainly online, and I know of at least one guy who can not seem to shut up about it ) you'd think Jesus was coming.

@maiyannah To be fair most old stuff is higher quality than modern stuff. A few years back they replaced 1920s formations of the first metro in the country for modern ones and it was a complete downgrade, from wooden interiors to bare metal and plastic seats.

@somercet 1644ºK for iron, while the most combustible types of wood require 14 minutes at 453ºK and it goes up from there. Both temperatures are way above what's possible to happen under normal conditions. Plus this is moot as considering it has plastic seats and acrylic parts, the newer ones would ignite way faster. Also, the older ones were made of steel as well, likely much thicker considering manufacturing standards of the time, and in any case the parts that used to be made from wood are replaced with plastic in the modern ones. The wooden parts were the seating and wall/roof interior coverings, while the floors, railings, and walls were steel.

@critialcloudkicker to access media I have Dropbox attached to both so that isn't a big deal; I don't use itunes on the pc at all. Outside of that I don't have reasons to link the two.

Apparently one of my co-workers is keeping track of how many times another one of my coworkers is mentioning she is vegan. I know for I just found the book used to keep track. This is going to be one of those Baader-Meinhof thingies now isn't it ? ( quickly rolling through the past 8 weeks & pages, average of 5 I'd say )

One of my friends told me that 'exposed' is such an overused cliche word that lost all meaning. So I told him I thought the same thing about 'butthurt'. That did dissolve into a conversation of the difference between 'attention seeking' vs 'attempt at humour' REALLY fast.

Tbh I think people were meaner on the internet ten years ago. Now if you want to insult someone you just call them fat on Twitter. Before, people on sites like Newgrounds would team up to create entire 20-minute hate videos about users they didn't like.

@mrmattimation It might have something to do with the fact that these days you can just make a video game and /someone/ out there will have a problem with it. It seems that everyone these days every stranger on the Internet is ultra sensitive to anything. And humans are inherently lazy, why make a 20 minute hate video about that person you dislike when just opening the book of super short insults at a random page, tweet that to them, and have pretty much the same result ?

WTF. I updated chromium on Debian and all my extensions vanished and I cannot install them again. It says "Installation is not enabled". I cannot find an option for this.

@critialcloudkicker I found out that with the recent change they made it impossible to install extensions when not logged in with a google account. That's major BS. I liked chromium as a secondary web browser but that's a big deal-breaker. (note: chromium is the non-google-branded open source chrome browser)

Just had a face to face with a client. I was told up front that he speaks Spanish and there just aren't any Spanish speakers available in my unit. So I see him, I dial up the translation service, get it on speaker phone, start the back and forth, and he asks me (in clear English) "Is that for me or you?" But when a mother Fluffle Puffer speaks Lithuanian or something I can't even get a heads up. LE OVERWROUGHT SIGH
