Man, this just isn't working for me. I still feel way too scrutinized out here. Like saying the wrong thing could get misread by the wrong people and then I'd be up the creek again. I feel like I don't have permission to be angry or sad or feel injustice anymore. I'm gonna go somewhere else for a while.
-
@nerthos Kinda hard to do. Those who have high charisma easily trample over those whom have a weaker resolve.
-
@critialcloudkicker You guys sure do like to undermine efforts to help people.
-
@nerthos I must have missed whom you were helping ( I thought we were discussing idealism ). That said I would hate to see that person turn into a 'my way or bust' fanatic.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/455910/ ... why would anyone buy this when emulation is a thing ? I mean I could attach my N64 and spend some time to get it working, then be dissapointed my saves are gone, or I could spend less time downloading an emulator, or I could spend no time and just paying 10 bucks... Hmm...
Sunday, 05-Feb-17 12:53:00 UTC from web-
@critialcloudkicker The N64 version sucks in comparison to the PC version. On GOG it's a tad cheaper https://www.gog.com/game/star_wars_rogue_squadron_3d
-
@adiwan I am not looking forward to buy or play it actually. I was merely surprised, and it got me thinking. Right now I wonder what it is that they could have 'fixed' for I just read the reviews on GoG and that seems to pretty damning
-
@critialcloudkicker The first comment only addresses the disabling of the compatibility mode and changing the controller settings. Not such a big deal for me in my opinion. With these old games there is always a problem with newer versions of Windows. At least it's easily fixable.

@mushi That is not why we love PC gaming. We love PC gaming because the sky is the limit. Now you could say 'so what, Bronies are a dying thing anyway', and you'd be right. However I generally like the people in the Dutch community, and I did not see any of them since 2015 due to work. ... And probably incompetence...Saturday, 04-Feb-17 07:17:38 UTC from web -
@ajr Right now I'm trying to rely on AI teammates during planning but they keep dying unless I take direct control of them. Often times when I tell them to open a door and throw a flashbang inside, they'd just immediately get shot by an enemy who was hiding away. What I'd do normally in that situation would be to open the door just a crack and toss a grenade that way but it seems like the AI don't know how to do it unless I haven't figured something out.
So yeah, I've been stuck on this one level for hours.-
@gameragodzilla You can shoot through thin walls but that will alert them. Sounds like you need to learn how to surveillance the enemies first. Biggest points: they'll move and make noise you can hear occassionally if you pay attention, windows can provide both intelligence and entry points, and when you do engage MOVE. More often than not if you keep your soldiers moving even if it goes completely sideways you can salvage it. It's all about thinking quick.
-
@gameragodzilla As far as planning goes, design your missions around the AI. Delegate yourself anything mission critical. Much easier that way. Not always possible, but usually is and it saves a lot of headache.
-
@gameragodzilla Try not to be surprised this is from the original XCOM (well, TFTD), but theres some good if basic squad tactics stuff in here: http://www.xcomufo.com/x2notebk.pdf

"It is 2017, what do you mean you do not have FaceBook ?!?" ... Really, people like that exist apparently. I used to have FaceBook, it did not add anything to my life really, and when FaceBook decided that my e-mail was invalid my account was lost in eternal limbo. You can not get support anywhere, probably because you are the product, not the client. Advertising companies are the client. I reckon they get proper support.

I feel bad. I made someone a bit barfy and dizzy with my VR experiment, such that he had to stop the experiment. It's fine that he did that (I said that it was his right to do that at any time). I just feel bad because I made him feel bad.

So I finally looked up what that mess what about between Leslie Jones ( The black ghostbuster, 2016 ) and Milo Yiannopoulos was about. Holy crap what a lot of noise about bleeding hearts and 'virtuous' trolling. And though I think it boils down to a battle of "everyone should be nice to everyone" vs "I will use freedom of speech in a defiant way to combat your standpoint". Oddly enough this time around I am very much on Milo's side this time around.

Who remembers PowerPC?
-
@archaeme Ohyeah, good old AMD. I almost always forget about those lovable brand the moment we're beginning to talk about high-end stuff. Mostly because they no longer seem to make high end consumer-grade hardware, and have settled nice in the middle field. I do really hope 2017 is the year that stuff like RYZEN will give Intel a run for their money though. Aswell as whatever they are doing with GPU's
-
@critialcloudkicker Ryzen looks promising from what I've seen, but we'll have to wait and see.
-
@archaeme Too bad waiting is not one of my strong suits. Also I am seeing more and more CPU abuse on Reddit boards ( especially PCMR ) just because Ryzen is not out yet.
But the way some people are talking about it ( mainly online, and I know of at least one guy who can not seem to shut up about it ) you'd think Jesus was coming.

@maiyannah To be fair most old stuff is higher quality than modern stuff. A few years back they replaced 1920s formations of the first metro in the country for modern ones and it was a complete downgrade, from wooden interiors to bare metal and plastic seats.
-
@somercet 1644ºK for iron, while the most combustible types of wood require 14 minutes at 453ºK and it goes up from there. Both temperatures are way above what's possible to happen under normal conditions. Plus this is moot as considering it has plastic seats and acrylic parts, the newer ones would ignite way faster. Also, the older ones were made of steel as well, likely much thicker considering manufacturing standards of the time, and in any case the parts that used to be made from wood are replaced with plastic in the modern ones. The wooden parts were the seating and wall/roof interior coverings, while the floors, railings, and walls were steel.
