Reminder that if you buy a new toy, place an old one in its packaging and return it to the store, you are a piece of bananas

@thelastgherkin that's a thing?
-
@rarity It's a way for whiny, entitled manchild d-bags to "get new toys for free" by swindling a) toy stores and b) children.
-
@thelastgherkin that's really awful oh my god
-
@thelastgherkin That's almost as murdockty as the people who steal the components out of nerf gun boxes.
-
@cinnamonswirl that is some next level scumbag stuff how have I not heard of this before
-
@rarity Imagine a parent, having tried really hard to remember the details of that super cool toy their kid wants, falling afoul of a toy swapper; imagine the look on the child's face when they get some beat-up looking older toy instead of the one they really wanted.
-
@cinnamonswirl I want to kill everyone
-
@thelastgherkin Congratulations.

@thelastgherkin I'd simply take the toy back to the shop as a parent. As a kid I wouldn't have minded much knowing that the situation would be rectified. If I were a toy store owner, however, I'd hopefully have kept the swapper's information.
