  1. @oracle Pretty much. Just a part of partisan politics, the people of one side will do anything to diminish the character of people who disagree with them.

  2. @oracle Or 12 years ago if you didn't vote Bush, you were... Yeah I don't actually remember what the deal was with John Kerry was. But yeah it's the same concept.

  3. @ceruleanspark I really don't deny that /he's/ a horrible racist, since he definitely comes off that way. It's just the left-wing mindset seems to be that if you voted for Trump, you're a horrible racist. To me it just reminds me of four years ago when the right-wing folks were saying that if you voted for Obama you like killing babies.

  4. I still like to believe that the majority of Trump supporters aren't horrible racists.

  8. Barack Obama quoted Atticus Finch, which apparently means it's okay to like Atticus Finch again. There are so many things wrong with this.

Okay first off, there's the obvious fact that Obama quoting the man doesn't absolve his apparent crimes. The president cannot pardon someone of public opinion. If you found Finch's behavior in Go Set a Watchman to be gross, then it still is, and Obama's casual quoting changes nothing.

Also, Atticus Finch is not a racist. Go Set a Watchman never happened. It was published after Harper Lee's death, she had chosen not to publish it. People who don't know the full story may think it was an unpublished sequel. Really it was more of a rough draft. To Kill a Mockingbird is the proper, canon story. Go Set a Watchman was only released as a sort of exploration of the author (and a shameless cash grab).

  14. @nerthos I feel like critics have their place, and can be useful when approached properly. I very rarely care about whether a critic liked something or not, I care more about why they did or didn't like it. More than anything a good critic review can give an idea of whether or not it's something you would like.
