My buddy's store did 286% normal business thanks to coronapanic yesterday.
Sunday, 15-Mar-20 00:26:56 UTC from web-
@scribus We have a store over in Langley like twenty minutes from here that did half a million dollars on Wednesday alone.
-
@mrmattimation And yet, my stocks are damn near so low they're trading on the Chinese market.
-
@scribus Possibly related, this company’s trading pretty low right now too because of internal rumors that they’re going to shutter stores for a few days while we get our inventory back together. Totally unprecedented by the way and I don’t see it happening. We only close one day a year - Christmas - and have never closed for anything else, be it inclement weather or otherwise.

I don’t know for sure yet but there’s a remote chance I was exposed to coronavirus this past week?
Friday, 13-Mar-20 17:46:38 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation Well, that means you only need to quarantine for the last half of the two weeks!
-
-
I sure am going into work six hours early. Buncha frickin’ animals
Friday, 13-Mar-20 13:45:07 UTC from web -
really a huge fan of staying an extra hour after the store closes because right now, at 12:23am, is the first time I’ve gotten a chance to sit down and do my paperwork
Friday, 13-Mar-20 04:24:00 UTC from web -
It’s not the coronavirus that kills you, it’s the literal riot that just broke out in my store when the last package of toilet paper was taken
Friday, 13-Mar-20 01:42:26 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation The only remaining fair distribution method is deathmatch.

oh cool, the governor just declared a state of emergency. That’s cool, I didn’t want to have an easy day at work today. Thanks Ralph.

Good lord, every subsequent day I pull up to work, the parking lot is more and more full. You don’t need to be stocking up for the end of days, people, just wash your Fluffle Puffing hands and you’ll be fine
Thursday, 12-Mar-20 19:29:40 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation But the news plays their scary music now!!
-
-
oh god I’m awake, what happened, what did the CDC do now, am I going to get lynched at work today
Thursday, 12-Mar-20 17:23:27 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation Well it looks like they got trump to stay on script for once, with the expression of Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard

the whole point of Swole Foods was supposed to be that these working-class mothercherryers are still struggling to get by when the economy is supposedly at the height of prosperity, so the fact that the markets are crashing is kind of a bummer, now it just looks like a remake of The Waltons

we need the Bernie Can Still Win meme now more than ever
Wednesday, 11-Mar-20 16:10:55 UTC from web- Scribus likes this.
-
@tiff he announced today that he would stay in the race despite not having a viable way to the nomination (in 2016 he at least had a real shot until around May or June) so he himself may be perpetuating the meme
-
@mrmattimation All I really want is to see Juggernaut shove the orange guy up the old guy
-
@mrmattimation that's my boy

one of the videos I’m working on right now is different from what I normally do - it’s a video essay on open world game design. I had to get some reeeaaaaaally boring footage for a joke in it. http://rainbowdash.net/url/875461

I guess I wouldn’t be THAT surprised, Clinton had (a pair of...) problems that didn’t sit well with independent voters, but I was expecting Sanders to at get CLOSE to his 2016 vote totals. Right now it’s looking like a blowout.
Wednesday, 11-Mar-20 04:08:38 UTC from web -
Seeing tonight’s primary results: if we learn on Election Day this year that the 2016 election was a vote against Hillary Clinton specifically rather than the vote against the political establishment, I’m going to be completely astounded. Tonight’s results in Michigan, which Sanders won in 2016 but Biden is winning handily tonight, are pointing to the former.

@scribus I own one share (approx. three dollars) in some pharmaceutical company (I got it for free) so that company better be the one that creates the vaccine.

@mrmattimation So long as it's the same one as my dad bought stock in, lol

just a friendly reminder that if trump loses the election by ten points but still wins the state of wisconsin, which i hear only has two people in it now, he still gets re-elected

@scribus Nah I’m potentially heading there for a convention, and, if everything lines up, business. Supposing the state isn’t under quarantine by then.

In the 2007 episode where Springfield moves its primary up to be the first in the nation, both parties attempt to court Ralph Wiggum to join their cause, implying that Springfield is perhaps in a very important swing state. There’s a billboard gag in one episode that advertises a playboy event hosted by Mayor Quimby, a Democrat, and the event is endorsed by President Trump. So one can possibly assume that Springfield is an Obama-Trump rust belt community and that Homer’s voting habits are not unusual, but in fact the norm.

He voted for Obama in the 2008 Halloween episode but then calls Joe Biden a “jackass” in an episode a year later, he voted for Romney in 2012, and in a 2016 episode he mentions that he supports Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton (because he likes his chicken) and an Internet short later that year all but states outright that were it not for Marge, he’d be voting for Trump.

On a Simpsons binge and I am convinced Homer would have voted for Trump
Sunday, 08-Mar-20 18:58:12 UTC from web-
@scribus there’s an Internet short where they imply Homer votes based on whoever Marge is voting for and if he doesn’t know who Marge is voting for, he votes for the Republican.

the newest version of flash has some really useful features but it's so buggy and FrankerZty and resource hoggy that it's almost not worth it. flash 2017, the one i actually use regularly, lacks those features but it's probably crashed on me once in the last two years.

I have four stand-alone Swole Foods episodes I want to make before I get myself too invested in another story-driven series to see if I can make the show work as it’s currently conceptualized or if I’ll have to go back and re-work it some more. “The First Day”, in which we’re introduced to our three leads; “All Dogs Go to Heaven”, which is an allegorical account of my own relationship with religion; “Brain Dead”, about a zombie apocalypse; and “Mike Hawk Down”, in which we’re introduced to a fourth major character, Republican Congressman Mike Hawk, a tragically repressed gay man who finds himself questioning his own self worth and his place in society after his re-election campaign ends in failure. Hopefully people don’t think I’m tricking them once I introduce the serialization angle after those initial four episodes.
Saturday, 07-Mar-20 10:40:15 UTC from web-
@mrmattimation I doubt people would feel too tricked. Even a lot of serialized out-the-gate programs start off feeling more episodic as we meet characters and develop the world.

Hey if you ever hear anyone complain about how self-checkout machines at grocery stores are “killing jobs”, just know that they’re talking completely from their asses and have no idea what they’re saying. Similarly, if you grab a bunch of items from the shelf and bring them to my desk to inform me what you would have bought from me if I wasn’t “killing jobs” (me, personally?), just know that your political statement is completely batbatcave and all you’ve done is make my life harder by forcing me to reshop all of your grape.

Trump is looking so gray under his orange, it's almost sad to watch this ancient doddard as he drives this country into the Earth's warm crust.
Saturday, 07-Mar-20 01:16:26 UTC from web-
@scribus I remember being shocked having seen a picture of him after he’d been in office a few months. He looked like he wanted to die. He’s a lot better at hiding it now but it’s super clear he’s not much longer for this earth. I genuinely believe if he’s re-elected we’ll be having a state funeral for him before his second term is up.

Papa Spraytan literally blames Obama for the coronavirus. It's not like he likes the former president or anything, baka...
Friday, 06-Mar-20 18:02:12 UTC from web-
@scribus Obama didn’t blame Bush for this long and in that case Bush really did cause a lot of his problems.
