  1. I’m beginning to consider the idea that maybe I have coronavirus but all it’s doing to me is giving me a cold. It’s been around 6-10 days since I was possibly exposed to it by an elderly customer who maybe got it in Arlington (never did figure out who it was and if they were even in the store), and I’ve been dealing with cold symptoms for a few days now. No fever yet, though, and my cough was exceptionally minor and is gone today. Hopefully if that’s the case I didn’t get anyone sick, I was careful to make sure I was sanitizing everything in my cough radius just in case.

  2. Like I said - I have no reason to believe I’ve got it other than this cold, which is also going around right now. No fever, no headaches, nothing. Just congestion.

    • @thismightbeauser But, the Carnegie and Rockefeller and all those families, they used to do public works and stuff. They may have been hoarding the wealth, but not damn *all* of it. Their flash contest was at least servicing the greater good as a side effect of the ostentation. This new crop seems more about raw, bigly yuge numbers, and hoarding, like a dragon (or a priapism). But, again, this is all coming around to perception. . . .

    • @scribus I mean, there's Bill Gates and whatnot. On the other hand you get people like this guy, who think it's an okay idea to keep making electric cars at a moderately high risk of illness to his employees with no one to buy them. http://rainbowdash.net/url/875471

    • @thismightbeauser @scribus That is indeed the case, a lot of rich people have middle class cars and discrete houses and do their best to keep people from knowing how rich they are, due to the general sentiment of "wealth equals evil"
You can't blame them really, if the mob will hate you just for managing to make good decisions and earning your family big money. I'd probably do the same if I couldn't simply relocate to a fortified compound with a minefield around it. It makes no sense to feel empathy for a group that has none for you, for whom you'll always be the bad guy regardless of what you do or don't do, that openly talks about how good it'd be if you died.

The ones that show off are the sociopaths, politicians and entertainment industry guys, who by default are crooks as that whole industry is built on crime and debauchery.

  3. IMO, the whole thing is a PR disaster waiting to happen, but that’s fine, I guess. The guy was put there to be the fall-guy when union negotiations broke down... then this happened.

  4. My dad got carded at the grocery store on the way home from a night shift. He was too young to get in so early.

    • @scribus We’re just kind of telling people we’re gonna card them but our interim President was really mad about having to change anything about the way we operate so we were explicitly told during a very angry conference call that it’s all just for show and we’re not supposed to actually turn anyone away.

  5. Which is especially infuriating because I'd been planning a move to Colorado for like, two years, but other stuff has set THAT back too.

                            • Clarification for my previous point: The show starts out as a pretty clear allegory for racism, but as you get further into the show it becomes pretty clear that actually, it isn’t, and that’s just how you chose to interpret it, so making real life connections with real life issues become crazy uncomfortable because, yes, carnivores are inherently more violent than herbivores, and yes, rabbits papaya like rabbits, and no, none of that is true in real life.

                              • here’s a fun game, when you watch Beastars replace every use of the word “carnivores” with “black people”, then slowly become uncomfortable with the fact that you’ve chosen to do this because doing so neatly fits the show’s narrative into a white supremacist rhetoric
