@firestormdangerdash Oh, yeah. This is the original one, the one with the hawk is the SPC alt to talk with non-RDN people, and the one with the 2 is a bot that takeshi made in 2016 when he was making markov bots with the accounts of anyone who found it funny. It's basically rdnebooks but using my posts as a source.

For the people who care about federation (Probably just @nerthos and @awl) I have no idea why it isn’t working. This is actually a new server, at a new hosting provider and a functionally fresh install of RDN’s version of statusnet. So unless DigitalOcean, Cloudflare, or the other instances themselves are blocking us (or them), there’s no particular reason why it *shouldn’t* work.

@awl It wasn't terrible, really. I found it disappointingly mediocre. One of those "I'd like it better if it was bad enough to laugh at" things. More of the same, more or less. And now I'm wondering if it would be worse to say a film sucked or a film was pointless...

@scribus They’re the end result of a 40 year campaign by what is essentially state run media (or to be more accurate, a media run state) to overturn the previous referendum we had on joining the EU in the first place. Turns out it’s really easy to gaslight a populace when you spend decades ensuring they’ll never have the tools required to verify your claims.

They pulled it up on their phone and started showing other students. I had four different people suddenly surrounding me and I just wanted to be left alone. The live, in-person audience was, for some reason, genuinely upsetting to me and I couldn’t handle it, so I excused myself and ran to the cafe so I could stress eat.

@mrmattimation i’d have no problems with celebrities visiting countries in order to strengthen ties with them if they helped to dispel the stereotype of the fat, rich, greedy American. Too bad in most of these cases that’s the opposite effect.

I’m conflicted about Mike Pompeo. On one hand, I hate Mike Pompeo and I think leaving the President with no functioning Secretary of State in the middle of his second year would be really, really funny and exactly as humiliating as it should be. BUT, I think leaving the President with no foreign counsel, especially at a time like this where we’re on the verge of a diplomatic crisis in Syria, Russia, China, Japan, Iran, AND North Korea, would be rather irresponsible and dangerous. I think either A) Pompeo needs to be confirmed, or B) Trump needs to nominate somebody else ASAP. The second thing is not going to happen, so it’ll have to be the first.

@mrmattimation this constant shuffling of cards the administration seems bent on doing really isn’t helping those crises anyways but having such an important slot emptied is way worse, I can agree to that.
