@redenchilada I have third-party cookies blocked, so it is already blocked AFAIK, that's just to block all cookies from api.twitter.com forever, even if it's not third-party.

@omni what am i looking at?

@unhipdruid My computer. That is virtual desktop 2. Virtual desktop 1 only runs GNUzilla IceCat, a Firefox-based browser. Desktop 2 shows me all my chats in Weechat (on top), activity on my server (left-bottom), music player (middle bottom) and miscellaneous system events logged by journalctl (right-bottom). Virtual desktop 3 runs Vmail, a curses-based mail client with vim-like bindings. Virtual desktop 4 to 9 are free, mostly used for gaming.
-
@ceruleanspark Err... Depends on your definition of desktop, and my ability to find another word to use instead. "Collection of terminal emulator windows" just doesn't sound that good.

Sometimes, "Dude, this is not free software. See this whole game? THAT ONE TEXTURE CANNOT BE USED COMMERCIALLY. Therefore, the whole package is unfree." annoys me to no end. I know they're right, but GOD DAMMIT IT'S ONE FREAKING TEXTURE WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO KEEP HAPPENING
Saturday, 22-Dec-12 10:48:02 UTC from web-
@omni hmm, interesting...

@unhipdruid It's a fun game, though. A nice shooter.

I know a lot of you aren't into complot theories, but Loose Change has some pretty good evidence for saying 9/11 was an inside job by the government so, unless someone gives me better evidence that it was not, I'll just keep believing that it was set up by the government.

Okay, Red Eclipse players, Team-Instagib-Medieval-Survivor is still an insane combination of mutators. Why do you like combining mutators so much?

Actually, why AREN'T there any good Site-Specific Browsers out there for Windows? Or Linux(?)
Saturday, 22-Dec-12 09:45:05 UTC from web-
@omni @neurario The apps in question will look a bit like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/40/Wikipedia_Web_Application_%28Epiphany%29.png
-
@omni Good to know, I'll have to look at Epiphany when I get on Mint on my desktop later. The closest thing I have at my fingertips right now is the functionality within Chrome (in desktop mode). I just find it interesting that there aren't many browsers that do it. Not even IE10 in Immersive mode, which I find surprising considering what they're going for with Metro's full screen apps.
-
@omni Under GNOME3, that is. The window border will obviously look different on other desktop environments.
-
-
http://i.minus.com/ibcjrmQW8HUfG5.png Starting to organise my Start Screen a bit. Found a tool to make custom Windows 8 Tiles with icons. Now to change the background and such.
Saturday, 22-Dec-12 09:13:26 UTC from web-
@renovatedkitchen I think I'd prefer to give KDE Plasma Active on tablets a try, it looks really decent. A tablet that can multi-boot any Linux-based OS I want would be pretty much perfect for me, though.
-
@neurario The "actual desktop mode" is nothing more than a "fallback" mode, really. So yes, I mean that Windows 8 new "Start" thingy, which should definitely be something you can customize according to your wishes.
-
@omni Okay. I just figured that should be clarified so we didn't get confused later on. :P But yeah, it is a bit strange that on that main screen you can't personalise it further than colours and pattern with the first party tools provided

I just had a kernel panic while clicking a link. There are two possibilities here: 1. The Linux-libre 3.7.1 kernel I got from the Parabola GNU/Linux-libre project is a mess or; 2. I should never touch a computer in my life ever again, as I have clearly shown to be incapable of making a system which is not a complete mess.

@mashuga31 And they also actively support Open Source, create cool Open Source stuff (like Android), etc, etc. Google is a pretty good company, but I still don't want to give them too much info :P

@omni I never said they were saints and you should give them a whole bunch of info. But if I had to pick between selling my soul to microsoft or selling it to google, id choose google.

@mashuga31 Same here. Definitely Google.
