  1. After several encounters with my most recent enemy (electricity-eating fungi) I've decided to study the damn things and figure out how to eradicate them.

They're not actively harmful, but colonies form in low-current circuits, and cause devices to stop working. Phone lines and tv remotes are the two places I most often find them in, and even though I fully clean the devices, after a while the fungi shows up again.

  2. @darkw00d 3DPD means "three dimensional pig disgusting", however marriage purifies the 3D and it is no longer disgusting or pig-like, 3D becomes pure and handholding is no longer sinful.

  3. @darkw00d 2D>3D with the sole exception of heterosexual marriage blessed by both church and state, that removes the PD from 3DPD

  5. @thismightbeauser Yeah, I'm not sure what they were going for exactly. It can work in an ultrawide screen, but you'd likely have to mess with it with stylish or some other browser extension to make it really good. I think pleroma does it right with a wide main timeline centered on the screen, and a smaller notifications timeline on the side.

  8. @scribus I didn't bring up Diaspora because I assumed you'd like something similar to this more than something similar to faceplace.

Hmm, I wonder how much justinbfan.club would cost

  9. @scribus That's fair. I like StatusNet/GNUsocial most but the wider fediverse has mostly abandoned ostatus at this point, and they tend to decay over time and get really hard to mantain. The two "modern" options are Mastodon and Pleroma, of which I'd recommend the latter since 1.0 released last month, all the devs are reachable, it's less resource intensive and it follows FOSS development philosophy, while Mastodon goes the benevolent dictator for life way, and any additions need to get through the lead dev. Plus while this is a taste thing rather than an objective thing, pleroma is closer to the SN/GS UI while mastodon goes with a timeline divided in several columns which only is useful in very wide screens.

  12. @mrmattimation You sound like an extremely sad individual.

Even as much as I dislike a lot of things about my country, I still acknowledge all the good things about it. Focusing on the bad to the point you can't even point out one thing you like about your homeland, yet remaining in it, is a miserable existance.

  13. @mrmattimation Are you going to tell me there are 0 things you like about that entire place? not even some food, or Clint Eastwood? Why even live there then?

  15. @drinkingpony Honestly all they can achieve with this is getting nazis to be seen positively in the long run. Think jews for example, they were universally disliked up until wwii, the nazis screwed up so badly with it than they became a group you can't criticize in most of the western world.

More so since what they call "nazis" have nothing to do with what an actual nazi is. Trump is a good example, he might have not delivered on most of the stuff he promised, but anyone else would be laureate after as US president being one of three main actors in the end of the korean war and restart of diplomatic relationships between the DPRK and the USA. Give it a few decades, and once the groups that screech about Trump cease to exist, he'll be seen in an overwhelmingly positive way in historical retrospectives. If these idiots conflate the words "nazi" and "trump", the logical conclussion is that he's a nazi, and therefore nazis are a boogeyman, okish people that are hated by fanatical groups.

  16. @scribus I know a few guys that can help you set up a pleroma server if you're interested, might get the lead dev to answer doubts when (if) he returns from the DPRK.

  17. @scribus Yeah, he's at @miki@pl.smuglo.li You are, of course, invited to make an account on any place that federates. You might not like smug since it's ran by a literal follows-hitler nazi, but there are politically neutral servers like SPC, niu.moe, aria.company, and a whole bunch of others.

  21. It feels so weird to be on SPC with some of the people from here, but half a decade after, all of us old and wise now. But I'm thankful for those connections, and for this place's uncanny ability to bring to light the most interesting people.

Who could have predicted that we'd go from bronies to shamans and wizards.
