I do want to talk about the implications of this unit for a moment, specifically "Dry Bones" and "Dry Bowser", whose naming conventions confuse and frighten me. When I die, will I become Dry Brian? Is a living Bowser Wet Bowser? Why do Piranha Plant have bone in it?

@emacsen @kavbojka @handle I'm really an outsider in the sense that I don't attend conferences and so don't have much of a sense of what happens other than the published talks. From my point of view I don't think you can take the money from a megacorp and then expect to have critical discussions about them which are devoid of influence. Even if only subconsciously, people will know that if they criticize too much then the money will vanish and future conferences won't happen.

@bob The thing to realize about the firearms issue is that the underpinning of it in America is the class war and always have been. The explicit purpose of the second ammendment is to allow the overthrow of the ruling class if it no longer serves the needs of the people. Unfortunately, like any other political instrument, it has long since been used since for anything but its original purpose.

@verius Three. Hermaphrodites have been well established as a third gender for a long time, its why I always find talk of the "gender binary" a bit amusing. I suppose the vogue term for that now is "intersex" though, but that highlights a misunderstanding of what hermaphroditism is. You're not "in between" one or the other. You have both, though whether one or both parts work is another matter.
