@neurario No sane newbie jumps in with Gentoo. That's like climbing the Mount Everest all by yourself after just having learnt how to crawl. Please, recommend him a more same starting point like Mint.

@neurario Gentoo: extremely flexible and powerful when done right, disaster otherwise. The others: should just work.

@jla I somehow have the feeling they'll have a hard time doing this on GNU/Linux systems, and a simple OS reinstall should fix anything. Still, it's insane this is considered acceptable nowadays.

I'm not saying Steve Jobs is a terrible man, I don't know him well enough to state things like that, but he didn't bring more good than bad into computers as far as I'm aware.
