  1. @djhedgehog a human's overactive mental closure, combined with the sometimes subconscious ability to choose what it perceives as possible or impossible, makes it likely that people will love nonexistent things. And I will leave it that, in case anyone on RDN gets rustled over what I may or may not be implying

  2. @rexneill1 don't take offense man, this is constructive criticism coming from someone with years experience in writing.

  4. @rexneill1 my point is, you're trying to make a single character EVERYTHING. that is unappealing, and like I said that explanation you just gave about the cat bit makes the character less interesting and seem more like a desperate effort to shoehorn in a personal preference. Just make a separate cat character if you like the idea of a cat character that much. While bat ponies certainly exist so there is no need to create any eye-rolling backgrounds to justify it, there is literally nothing about being part-cat that is believable or helpful to your character. You cant make a single character represent all of your personal preferences in one, it's honestly unrealistic

  5. @djhedgehog I keep losing the local $1000 karaoke contest, every year, each year for dumber reasons. I am tired of losing to people clearly worse than myself, and even the judges told me I should've won but the bar was forcing them to use a machine to gauge applause loudness and have that count as half the score. So the people that won did so because they had friends walk up next to the machine and shout right as their song would end. I'm sick of losing, there is no point to being good or talented at anything if it is worthless, and it is worse when people try to be like "well at least you have us" and I have to go "you guys dont pay my bills, no amount of your sympathy will clear my debt" then they thinnk I'm an ass. But they don't understand; they've never been in the debt I'm in, they don't know hat it's like to always lose, or be forgotten or dismissed.

  6. @rexneill1 no offense, but: why the cat part? seems unnecessary, and trying to make an excuse for that element to make it plausible would do more harm to the character than good. Also, there are several background characters and other characters who have moonbutts of sorts, but they are not considered royal nor are those cutie marks considered to be royal symbols. So where does that really come from?

  7. @djhedgehog yep. Now I can go back to boring things, like wallowing in self-pity over being a loser

  11. @djhedgehog I'm just making sure this is firefox telling me to update my browser, and not a scammer/virus

  20. @ceruleanspark the people in wall street do not want just what they need. They want more than they need, arguably more than what they deserve but you could endless argue if someone deserves something in retrospect if they obtained it successfully. Many of those on Wall street have more money than they could even have use for. It is an ugly gluttony, to be a man who compulsively drives people into their grave just so he can own a third or fourth house.

  28. good news: the judges at the karaoke contest thought I was the best singer/performer tonight. Bad news: I still didnt place because 50% of the grading for performances was on audience "applause," graded by a machine that detects decibel levels, and my opponents would just send people to shout into it during their performances. tl;dr I'm a worthless loser whose abilities and talents amount to nothing, once again.
